I wrote a few messages with a girl on occupid a couple of months ago. One thing that is strange with this girl is that she never uses emoticons. She ends all her sentences with a period (or a question mark). Should I drop my emoticons then, to "mirror" her?

Anyway, I've been living abroad since then, and now I wanted to reconnect with her.

I found out she has deleted all the messages since then, I asked her why and she said "I clear my inbox at regular intervals. Whether it's smart or not, I don't know".

Then she asked me where we were at last time, and I said "You invited me on a parachute date [a joke]. I figured out it would be a bit too much adrenaline for me, so I suggested we go for a jog instead." (she likes jogging)

Answer: "Good thing you stopped my foolhardiness. A jog should provide just the right level of excitement, especially when one never knows what lies behind the next corner. Where do you usually take your dates to jog, then?"

Any suggestions what I should answer here?

You're over-thinking the emoticon thingy. Text an message as you normally would.


As far as deleting the messages. Chicks do this. Usually I notice they'll delete all my messages but the last one. I found it is because they get TONS of messages. She probably deleted all your's because you hadn't messaged her in a while.

It'll be two more weeks before I'll be back in my home country, and my phone doesn't work where I am no, so I think I'll wait with the number close until I'm back home. I like to send the girl a message as soon as I've got her number.
