To Answer your question, know I would Instant Message a girl every day or every other day typically. However, at what stage are you at with this girl? If you have f-closed the girl then it might be okay.

If you are still in the early stages of the game, meaning you just met you could be telegraphing too much interest in her. You may want to spread the time out when you choose to talk to her. Or I would limit the amount of time you talk to her if frequently. Stuff like, after about 5-10 minutes hey I got to go, my show is coming on, or I'm about to leave to meet so and so. Women like things that are rare. If you are busy you are rare and are sought after. IF you are home all the time talking to her then you are a common, lovable looser.

Even for mid-stages of the game I feel that that frequency is showing too much interest, and lowering your social value to her.

If you want to talk everyday to someone, find a buddy or gal pal. For one thing, it means when you do end up talking to her, you may have lots more to discuss. Makes you seem like a more interesting person.
