I've had good luck with putting them on the defensive too. Most of the "meet me" and messages I get come from those seeking a "long term relationship" I've had good luck with stuff like "your kind of cute but you long termers scare me!" Then I tease them about how they are scaring men away being so serious so early while they try to convince me they are looking for the same thing as me. One got kind of mad at first but ended up number and address closing.
