I tried to open this HB9 I recently added a few days ago on fb. I didn't really think of an opener when I saw her online so I just said "hey watsup?"

She then went offline a little bit after without messaging back. Is it just a coincidence or something else?

Nobody can answer that yet. You went kinda afc, hb 9's get "hey what's up?" a lot.

I'd guess you came off ordinary, and she ignored it, like high value women do a lot. But, there is also the chance she could be testing you, as well as the chance something else came up. Remember, when Facebook updates online status, there is a delay between the disposition, and when the user actually logged off. So, she could have been off before you messaged her.

My advice:
Come up with something clever, witty, and funny. Wait at least one week to message her again, but in that time frame, make sure she sees you're online and not messaging her. Add some new friends, so it will show in her "top news"
... In about a week message her again.

All right thanks yeah i thought of this opinion opener "[insert name], i got this serious dilemma thats been on my mind for a while....which one is better poptarts or strudels?"

FYI: she's probably gonna pick Cornell, most women do. I always say they made me loose the bet. Then I will use a time constraint of I need to go get over to the bank....

Well, that was the first mistake. The guy above is right, she gets so many of them, that it was too easy for her to ignore. You needed to stand out with your opening line. Failure at that, was the non-reply from her side.

And as for the second attempt, I don't know I am a bit skeptical about the chances on it working. Since, she has shown ZERO interest in you whatsoever. You are free to try and here's wishing you luck. But, be ready to face failure more than success. Game other girls, man is my advice to you and work on openers.

I was able to get her number in person not over the internet even though I made it awkward by being too afc. I''ll provide another update later.

If you have her number then why did you go on facebook? I look from least to greatest like:

1. Facebook/IM/POF/Okcupid ect.
2. Getting number/Texting
3. Actual phone
4. Meet up

if you ended up at #2 then why go back to #1

Learn some text game and spit a few of those then call/meet up with her. Facebook sucks for flirting or dating.
