| Hello everyone, I'm new to these forums and to the US as well.
I'm not really comfortable with just walking up to someone on the street and going to a bar alone doesn't really work for me, so I figured I'd give online dating a shot.
So far, it's been working out good, my profile is different so I've been getting some attention. Where I'm from, men basically have to do all the work so to have a girl give me her phone number without even asking is new to me (I ain't complaining).
In my country, people don't really date, they hook up then if things go well, they go out.
The cultural differences are exiting, but they have me a little baffled, so my questions are :
- on a first date should you try to push things as far as possible, or take things slow? Will the girl be offended if you do not try to kiss her? I'm mostly trying to meet new people, so even though I'm not necessarily looking for a long term relationship, I don't want a one night stand either.
- Is waiting 3 days to call back after you date really a rule? Or just something you see in sitcoms?
- My last meaningful relationship ended 2 years ago, but it lasted 8 years. Is it something I should disclose pretty quickly, or on the contrary wait a while before discussing?
