How's it going all, first time poster here.

So taking Neil Strauss' advice I altered my profile on plenty of fish to come across like a complete asshole. Saying I don't give a shit, etc etc but also putting some of my interests and aspirations in there so I don't look like someone who is just pissed with the world in general. I msged about 8 or 9 girls with an assholish, 'neg' msg (something like 'damn if you didn't smoke you'd totally be my type') and I've gotten replies from almost every one which is great.

However, one girl wrote back saying that after reading the profile I just come across as someone who has had bad luck with women and I'm pissed because of that saying that I'm killing the first impression by being an asshole. What's your opinion on this method? How has it worked for you?

Why are u worried about 1 girl if u have got so many more good reponces?

Oh I should clarify.. I'm not concerned about this one girl, but I'm just wondering if anyone of you have done something similar and if this is the general consensus on having this type of profile. Maybe the others that replied replied because of the neg opener, not because of the profile.

when i was building my myspace page to attract girls i used the "is that your real hair" and "were you at the titanic last night" lines to open and just to say - on avg 1 out of 10 will write back about how pissed they are and how rude you are etc etc... 9 out of 10 will take it with good humor... so i guess coming off with an asshole opening works on top of that when i used the "stalking ex-gf" line to ask them to leave a comment about 3 of 10 would stop responding, 5 of the ten will gladly do it, 2 of the ten instead give you advice - lol

Where did Neil give the advice to act like an asshole? Did he have anymore specifics?

I'm not sure how I should set up a profile exactly.

He said it in The Game, and He didn't say to be a complete asshole. It's more about showing strength and showing that you don't NEED the person. His ad was something like: I'm a selfish prick who does what he wants when he wants to do it. I'm experienced enough to know how it's done and young enough to do it often.

Something like that, not exactly, but you get the point. I think he might have added some more things... maybe something about liking showers? (or I might have just read that somewhere else)

So, he's was being cocky, and STRONG. Not being an asshole. He didn't write anything like "I spit on poor people because they're beneath me." You shouldn't confuse the two, you could get into trouble.

there's always gonna be a few smart ones that completely get the wrong idea.

99% of the men she's dated have been assholes. Take that for what it's worth.

Although I think advertising it with neon lights on your profile may be a bit too much.
