I tend to become very quite when I’m around people who I perceive to be of a higher status than me. Usually its people who I think are smarter or wittier than me. I tend to not speak as often and not voice my opinion of the fear of being called out and not being able to defend my opinion. What’s a good way to still be social with people who are smarter than you without coming off ignorant.
If you are that way because you "perceive" them to be of higher status then you need to change you from the inside. You need to change your perceptions.
How do we do this?
You need to begin working on your inner game, and how you view yourself. There is a lot of products our there that can help. Some people love David DeAngelo, and Hypnotica to name a few. Not to mention there are some great posts on the forum that can help you out as well.
