So I'm in university and for some reason the teachers want all of us to INDIVIDUALLY stand in front of the class and act out a short scene...

I still suffer from stage fright, my voice starts shaking, I go really red and I start trembling...I can't run away from this, I have to face it head on and win. My number one fear though is that I get so nervous that I can't even finish my lines, and the worst possible scenario is that I end up being close to tears....would be so humiliating for a 20 year old guy like me....would lower my value so much..

You guys are like my role models...can you guys give me some advice on how I can overcome this? I have less than a week till I have to do it, so I have some time to prepare myself for it...should I try and frame myself to be in a certain frame of mind....? It's hard though when the fear is really strong... Help me out please, any advice is appreciated.

I have experienced this years ago. The key is making friends with people around in your class. When you are presenting use them as focal points and look at them when you are speaking.

If you do this you wont be so nervous because it is like having a conversation with a friend so you wont be so nervous. Good thing to know is people rarely notice when you fuck up and even if you do they mostly let it pass.

You guys are all in that your not the only one who has to go up in front of these folks so just relax and be chill. Also it helps to do a run through even in front of your new friends so you can all practice. Its a good excuse as well to meet some cute girls in your class.

I am sure you will kick ass. Good luck man.

The only true way to overcome a fear is to do the thing you fear.

Join Toastmasters and practice giving speeches. Join some acting class to do more performing or whatever. Just do anything that involves doing the things you fear constantly.

Anything else is mental masturbation, turning your back on manhood, and rejecting your masculine destiny.

My buddy used to recite his stuff outside in the middle of his street in the neighborhood. You could also act it out in front of your friends/ family. You really want to kick that fear in the ass? Go recite your act in a parking lot or a mall.

But one thing I gotta tell you that will lock in a positive mental state... your voice...

blast. that. shit.

The moment your voice gets weak, you get weak. Keep your voice powerful, and you will remain powerful.

Picture everyone in the audience in their underwear.

^ Awesome advice.

I've been a performer since my school years (singer, speaker, debater). You haven't a clue how bad my legs would shiver whenever I'd get on the stage. Eventually after tons of on-stage experience and spontaneous performances, today I'm confident that even if I've to go speak bullshit for a speech in front of a 100 people, I'll go do it.

And what worked for me like charm, was assuming that the audience were a herd of sheep.

I remember in choir, several hundred in the crowd. All friends, family and students. And there would be kids who did solo parts in the middle of the song. I never did, but can you imagine singing the song with the whole choir, knowing that in 3...2...1...EVERYONE was going to go silent except YOU?!? And all eyes and ears are focusing on you, just waiting for your voice to crack or for you to screw up for all to hear...

Now THAT is pressure and performance anxiety! Speeches and acting roles with other actors at the same time aren't nearly as bad.

My method; Tell yourself the following;
-You're Unfucking Touchable.
-Their's no one on this earth that's hotter then you.
-If you see a 10, sweet you got a challenge,however, I'm a eleven bitch.
-Don't Put any bitch on a pedestal, if you want them they are gonna work for you.

Step's when approaching;
-Hand's in Pocket.
-Pickup line: "Hey..(Insert Name here).", "What's up"..."Oh by the way, i like your Jacket or Blouse or Shirt...Who did you steal that from a Hobo?".
-Then negg her.
-Pull up your phone, say i'll call you this weekend, we are going (Insert Place name here)".

man tough luck dude, its gonna be hard to get it out of your head. practice, practice, practice. and rehearse. if you can memorize all the movements and lines then you can just trust your body to go through the motions. then the stage fright won't be so bad.

I don't think he'll be picking up chicks on stage bro. I also like the idea of telling a girl she looks like a Hobo, but that not actually being the neg, lol.

This is an easy one.
When you preform to an audience you wanna find a spot on the wall just above them so you're not staring at peoples faces to mess you up and forget your action.

Next is a little tricky but you need to believe that shit is actually happening. Real life situation not time to screw around! And you forget all useless thoughts that will just make you project nervousness, shyness, and sketchiness.

all of this advice is shit.

you just gotta deal with it. you're 20 years and you feeling like you're going to cry when you stand in front of some other kids your age? what the fuck man you're not a fucking girl are you?

anyway if you get nervous beforehand try to loose that nervous energy by physically moving.

jump around, wave your arms, maybe run a few blocks around your school, stretch, shake your arms, just shake it out man! it's all just adrenaline going through your veins :)

the same thing you would do before a sports competition. just get moving, loosen up your muscles.

how the hell can you be present this way?

you might aswell record yourself and play the video in front of the audience.

like i said, it's better to just deal with it.
