A lot of guys I help out have this problem... and the solution is all about changing your mindset. When you go out, it needs to be about you. Not her. Simple. If you get blown out of a set, who cares? You picked up an experience point that you didn't have before.
As far as getting pumped up before going out: very important. Pro athletes use a form of self NLP visualization to envision success very specifically. I'd look into it: I use it if I am going to have an especially tricky night out, and it works wonders. If that sounds a little too intense, just repeat this mantra: "I don't give a fuck."
I completely agree with Zip here! I about had this problem Friday Night! I went out and haven't flown solo in a while. I got into the venue and started to freeze up. I felt the AA floating around in my stomach. Basically, I plowed through it and just opened a set. It's about me having a good time and not those little girls in the club.
Secondly, I don't set any expectations for what I want to accomplish while I'm out except for having a great time!
