Hair short on sides and back but long in the front?

Tell me about what you've thought of men's hairstyles where the front hair is pretty long (long enough to sometimes get in their eyes a little) but the sides and back short.

Basically I cut my hair to 2 cm around a while ago and have been cutting the sides and back as soon as they stick out by not touching the front and am deciding whether to keep doing this or go for a different method. I DO want to find out what I would look like with longer hair again.
