Can anyone give some tips (or reading suggestions) on interacting with groups in social situations? Not approaching groups of women (I am perhaps unusual in that being easy for me), just general interaction with a group of people I'm out with instead of sitting in the background.

You're not talking about sets, just the group you are actually with, right?

It seems like the alpha's (whether male or female) usually occupy the group's attention with their often loud and continual banter. If you're not like that yourself, it's hard to compete with them, let alone take control of the conversation. I have the same problem. I just don't have the energy level required to overpower alpha personalities. Sorry, not much in the way of advice for you, lol.
