Hi All

Somthing that helped me with Anxiety and Shyness and maybe it could help you :)

No 1 - do what makes you happy!

No 2 - surround yourself with people that bring you up, and make you feel good about yourself.

No 3 - do one selfless thing everyday (do summing for someone / something else that u cannot benefit from, doesn't matter how big or small like even making a cup of coffee for someone or giving a begger $1)
builds self-worth and self-esteem. Makes you happy but you can't tell anyone about it because then you benefit from it ;)

No 4 - do summing silly everyday.

No 5 - allow yourself to feel whatever emotion it is that you feeling no matter how sore it is. You feeling it for a reason! Doesn't mean its a bad thing, no emotion is negative BUT then let it go!! Don't let it consume you!

No 6 - vent!! Let it out!!! Phone someone and say whatever it is that you need to say. If that person cares they won't hold it against you or judge you for it. But you gotta let it out otherwise its like poison and it eats you up inside.

No 7 - practice REBT, Then it boils down to basic human spiritual prinicples - always be honest but most importantly BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF!!!
Be patient, be tolerant, be accepting, don't be judgmental, and ALWAYS check your motives behind whatever it is u doing. If your motives are pure then no matter the outcome you can't get hurt.

No 8 - And then finally at night before you go to sleep, think about the day you've had and don't concentrate on what's happened to you but rather on how you have behaved or acted.
Acknowledge where you've gone wrong and if u need to apologise for it. If you have to write it down do it, its very healing that writing stuff ;)

I applaud your effort...but while all of this makes sense, your happiness is made the artificial way. If you need some external factors like driving a car, surrounding yourself with happy people, do selfless things, do something silly...to influence your happiness, then it might work but it's all temporary and superficial...depending on the stuff going around you.

Wouldn't you rather be happy regardless of those external influences? If you just witnessed a horrible accident, would you rather be terrified for next 3 days and then depressed for the next 3 months after realizing your mortality...or be happy?
You said neither emotion is bad. Well I'd rather feel ecstasy/bliss instead of anger/agony/whatever.

After all, all of your emotions are made with your mind...with the thoughts of something that makes you happy and NOT with the thing itself.

This is my favorite example:
There is a man who is unhappy because he got no job. His future is uncertain, he is not sure what will he eat tomorrow.
Suddenly, his wife calls and tells him their lottery numbers got drawn, and that the 2 of them won 10 million dollars.
How would you feel in his situation? Extatic? Then happy? I don't know...
But, let's say that she lied to him for whatever reason. Is his happiness real? There isn't any money to be happy about after all.
Of course he is happy. But why? Because he was thinking about some happy occasion, and not with the occasion itself.

By all means, continue what your doing if it makes you happy.

Or you can read this book by Anthony De Mello - Awareness which I find to be the most useful book to date and quite possibly in the far future.
This changed my life and of many others.

Thanks for your time.

EDIT: I got some articles about this as well (which are upgrades to this book). About how to become charismatic and project that to other people. This makes you magnetic, irresistible. Some kind of permanent state. But I'll leave that for some other time.
