I need advise on how to handle this. I'll explain the situation.

I'm in French speaking part of Switzerland and a beginner in French. Socially I have joined a few groups to improve my French and well build my social circle. And to check out women of course.

One group I have joined does a language exchange i swap my English for their French. There are usually quite a mix of people male, female, old, young. Typically we would pair off to do the language exchange.

This where the problem is . Every time I have been paired off with someone I don't want to be with! The old women! Though one time I got paired with a sporty looking lady in her 30s. We seemed to have a bit of a rapport going and she had even visitted my hometown in England. This week this lady was getting pally/friendly with another lady of similar age and I was indicating that I would do the language exchange with both of them.Well I would gladly do a lot more than that with them! The male organiser sort of butts in and I end up again with some old dear.

The saving grace is that typically it turns more into a social thing and we go to drink and eat in a cafe or restaurant. I just mingle and sit with the people I like.

Any advice? Maybe I should be less vocal and try to do reverse psychology? Keep quiet and then get paired with people I like. maybe I should just ignore the organiser and just pair up with whoever I want. I am conscious that would appear like hitting on them in public and upset the organiser. I think I need to pursue those I'm interested in the social bit afterwards. I may just accept whoever I'm paired with and just concentrate on learning French if they are not great. I think I'll try to arrange 1 on 1 sessions with anyone I like and have got on with.
