Right, I see myself as a funny person and slightly popular amongst my town. I'm 17 and i'd say that quite a lot of people know of me even if i=I don't know them because I do MMA and I used to have quite a rep of being a badboy anyhow, I noticed something, I never get any likes at all on facebook!

I can put this down to a lot of people don't like approaching me, they will just say 'Hey Myles' and i'll give them a nod or so, but being a member of this forum I have no concluded that I'm going to stop being so alpha amongst the males and level myself down a bit and just be nice to everyone, I mean everyone! Just start lots of conversations etc etc then people will start noticing me on facebook etc, because lets be honest, if you look un-popular on facebook, then when a girl does add you they wont really be impressed!

what are your thoughts?

This sounds like an intersting question, I'm curious to see what others would recommend...

But I think it would be helpful if you gave some examples of what you post... if you update your status it shouldn't be somthing boring like "on my way to the gas station... think ill buy some chips" or some boring shit like that, stay away from that.

What I found that works for me since I'm kind of funny and actually know most of my frineds on facebook really well, is posting funny statuses.
Jokes, a funny story, stuff with humor you get the point.

Like:
"In the past when you were angry with someone you would fight them, now you delete them off facebook... that'll teach em to fuck with you!!

Or you could try somthing relatable like:
"That retarded moment when you stare at a txt for 5 minutes trying to figure out how to respond."

The key to appearing popular on facebook isn't necessarily writing lots of funny statuses, but having lots of friends on it. The more friends you have, the more people there is to like your photos and status updates.

I'd say I put funny ones! I never put depressing ones and I don't tell people what I'm doing! I have around 500 friends? But on average I will get 4/5 likes if i'm lucky. I think I should start putting them at peak times? I don't really go on facebook during the day

Because that what YOU said. But good job! I personally don't think having a ton of friends will get any likes you could have 5000 but if you're boring and aren't fun then it ain't gonna get you shit. But you have a descent amount I wouldn't worry about getting a ton of likes on face book. I've met tons chicks that see me as a higher status just because I don't use facebook that much and the're on facebook ALL day!! Seriously! We all know girls are on facebook more than guys. So again don't worry about it bro

I don't think getting likes on facebook really increases your value that much to be honest. I get anywhere from about 50 to 100 likes on my profile pictures, although I have about 1,000 friends on there so it doesn't really count for much, but I don't imagine that a girl is going to reject you based on you not being popular enough on facebook. Then again if you're sarging online then it does show high social value I suppose and probably makes them more receptive. You don't have to be attractive to get likes either; I've seen really unattractive people with loads of likes on their pictures just because they know a lot of people in real life. Personally I never put status updates or anything like that; it seems like a DLV because you cant be very busy if you spend time making jokes or talking about your day on facebook
