Why is that so many people, commentators, and critics get it so wrong?

It's not about dressing outrageously. It's about dressing in a way that attracts the type of girl you want to attract and in a way that stands out.

And if you do it right it works.

Good post man. I "peacock" AKA dress to impress my target audience 24/7. I prefer more smart, cute and nice classy girls as suppose to dumb slutty attention seeking girls, so I dress in a way that those type of girls would find attractive.

Remember that in the game they dressed to attract the 10's in LA, girls who lose attention real fast and have been approached thousands of times.
Usually you want to attract these kind of girls, being dressed outrageously keeps there attention span much longer. Also 7 &8's are ok, but if you want to attract the 10's, you'd be much better off dressed outrageously. Although this would differ for instance per country: for instance in Asia this would work differently.

With hardcore clubbing girls, peackocking to the extreme is the way to go.
