I've got my vasectomy scheduled for next Friday!

I went to the doc last week and he fondled my nuts for me, told me about the procedure. Basically they sit you up on the table, take your balls, make a cut and pull out the tube. Cut the tube in half, cauterize it, sew it up, and then sew your ballsack shut; then repeat the same thing on the other side.

This whole process sounds horrible to me and I'm nervous, but I'm way more nervous for an ut-oh pregnancy! The whole procedure takes thirty minutes from start to finish, and I can drive home myself. So, thirty minutes of something I don't want to do, or eighteen years of something I REALLY don't want to do? I'll take the former!

It's always weird having some old man touch your dick and nutsack. I guess I see it like the dentist. No one WANTS to go, you just go and zone out while they do their thing.

This is exciting. I'm fucking stoked to be sterile. After the procedure, it takes about fifteen or so ejaculations to be "clear" and sterile. I can't fucking wait to be shooting blanks. It'll be the relief of a lifetime for me. Even when using a condom, which I have been using fucking religiously, I'm frightened as shit that something is going to go wrong. I can't wait for this weight to be lifted off my shoulders; the weight of The Pregnancy Phone Call; UGH!

For me in the UK, I don't think you can get a versectomy until you're a certain age and think you have to pay a lot of money for it.

But yeah, I really want to get this done soon since babies to me = life ruined

I haven't done any research on this but I'm curious how it effects testosterone levels as well as your prostate.

The male contraception, it sounds great and I'm all about it but I need a permanent solution, for life. I already have two kids and I never want more, ever.

I've gotten the standard argument: What if you meet a girl who wants kids?

Then I'll meet a different girl. Simple as that really.

For me since I'm in the military, and already have two kids, this thing is free for me.

For testosterone levels, they're totally unaffected. Prostate I'm not sure the effects.

Well, I was supposed to have it next Friday, but I got a phone call yesterday (Thursday) asking if I wanted to have it done this Friday (today). Of course I said Yes!

Alright so here's how it went.

I go in. Get undressed and lay on the table. The doc lays me down on the table and starts washing my balls with surgical soap. This was so fucking awkward I can't even put it into words. He spent a solid five minutes soaping and washing and scrubbing my dick with cold ass soap. Out of everything, this was the most uncomfortable part, having this old man scrub my dick. Oh well!

So then he gets his needle out, and puts it into the groin muscle near my balls. Kind of painful but nothing horrible. About a minute later, he takes some scissors out and I hear a "SNIP!", he cut my ball sack open. Very quickly I could feel blood draining down my taint. I feel him tugging on some things, he's pulling the semen tube out of my balls, I hear another "SNIP" then he just does his thing for a little while. During this time we talked about tattoos. He then repeats the same thing for the other side, with the numbing shot, the scissor clipping, etc. Then he sews them up. It was as simple as that.

As for how it felt. There were points where I felt like I was going to pass out. Everyone knows that when you get a shot, or a tough tattoo, or something, you sometimes hold your breath by accident and you feel like you're going to pass out. I've had this feeling plenty of times from other things, so I knew just to breathe. Here's the problem, though: Good luck breathing deep breaths when some dude has your ball sack cut open! There's no way, way too uncomfortable. I could feel a lot of tugging, it was just a crazy feeling, like he was tugging at the inner depths of my testicles. Not comfy at all.

But at the same time, it wasn't horrible. The best comparison I can make is that it was like going to the dentist, except for your balls. No one WANTS to go to the dentist, but you just kind of lay back and accept what's happening. It wasn't pleasurable by any means, but it wasn't miserable either. Totally acceptable experience, not bad at all.

My balls are now kind of swollen. Walking isn't compromised much. It's just not that bad. A weekend of rest and we're good to go!

It should take about fifteen ejaculations for my tubes to be clear of any living sperm, at which point I will be totally sterile. I have to cum into a cup and give it to him after about fifteen or so ejaculations so he can check it and make sure it's good to go.

This is a great day in my life. I am so excited to be sterile I can barely stand it! It's great!

Couple of things. Wish I had seen this before. You got a traditional vasectomy, which is a much, much worse kind. They offer no scalpel vasectomies, which have much lower recovery times(less painful too). That's what I had. They're usually cheaper to boot(mine was $750).

Anyway, whatever they told you about the ejaculations is only part true. It's a combo of total ejaculations and time. You cannot be cleared out in under 2 months, regardless of how often you ejaculate. And it takes about 25(not 15) to clear you total. If you're under 25, even six months out, you'll still have sperm. It will be very little. As each time, you lose about 1/2 of your sperm. So it's down to tens of thousands with a little over a dozen. But it's not zero for over two months, reglardless of ejaculation numbers.

P.S. Male contraception is a unicorn. It's been a year or two away since the 1980s. It's a lot like regrowing a bald head. Always just a few years off. Just like Jesus coming back.

Thanks for your input, man! I appreciate the information. As for the scalpel and recovery time; I'm not worried about it man. Yeah it was painful and kind of barbaric, but I'm cool with it. Honestly, the after effects could have been one month of agonizing pain and I think I would have been good with it. It's too bad I didn't know about the no-scalpel vasectomy, but oh well, too late now haha.

For the price, like I said my insurance covers it completely, so I'm $0.00 out of pocket.

I didn't know all that about the ejaculations. I'm definitely going to stay careful as all hell in that time and careful afterward. Having a pregnancy happen is my own personal nightmare!
