| The seduction community is, by far, a more complex and awe-inspiring phenomenon than most people realize. It is interesting to look at it from a scientific viewpoint, and progress from there, as, though we may not be aware of it, the methodology used by the 'gurus' in the community is almost the exact same as the scientific method, though perhaps a little less clear on exact parameters of each experiment, but I digress. What is so captivating about this movement that uses psychology as a practical tool towards mating is the fact that so much of the data put forth in the community actually works; this is made even more impressive by the fact that seduction draws from from so many different disciplines in psychology and sociology to accomplish what it does, to name a few, evolutionary psychology, the science behind conversation, group theory, theories about power and how to attain it, hypnosis, NLP (though, I'll admit, its effectiveness is in question), etc.
All of these disciplines, this practical knowledge, coming together so that the men of the seduction community...can pick up that one, slutty, blonde girl in the club who's pants have the interesting property of compelling men to attempt to get in them.
Does that not seem shortsighted, that the focus of this multi-disciplinary, groundbreaking, male-empowerment movement is to bed the opposite sex? Human interaction is a huge topic, yet that in no way indicates that those interested in it need limit themselves to seduction. Take a moment and consider what PUAs, members of the seduction community, hell, even Venusian Artists, really are, by way of analogy. If we look at Physicists, Astronomers, Chemists, etc., they are the scientists that expand our understanding of the world around us, while engineers are the ones who take the knowledge unearthed by these other professions and use it for practical purposes. Now, if we consider the soft sciences, such as Psychology and Sociology, we see that there do indeed exist engineer equivalents in those fields: politicians, advertisers, clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, therapists, etc. However, none of the "engineers" of the soft sciences, or, at least, very few of them, use the data available to them in everyday social interaction. This is the void currently being filled by the seduction community, at least partially. And while one could argue that others have used psychology to benefit themselves with regard to basic interaction (Robert Greene comes to mind), I argue that none have done so as effectively or comprehensively as the pick up community. The process of submitting ideas to the forums, having your ideas appraised, and having others in the community attempt your methods for themselves has proved an excellent way of weeding out bad ideas while preserving good ones. Over time, bad habits simply fall out of use from those who actually practice, most likely from a Pavlovian response to getting rejected because of those habits. What the community IS is a combined research and development team for the soft sciences, consisting of many individual parts, but with the emergent property of producing the most effective methods for seduction.
However, seduction is but one area of human interaction. The seduction community, at the current time, only pays lip service to male-to-male interaction as a whole, remains silent on the business applications of an alpha male mindset, gives no explanation for non-romantic relationships, and, as a whole, fails to deliver an accurate look at interaction as a whole. Furthermore, exploring these other facets of human interaction would make the men in the seduction community more competent, more savvy, and provide them with a complete approach to interaction rather than the constricted view currently favored by the community when talking about seduction. If knowledge truly is power, which, I'd argue from looking at the success stories in the community, it is, then why would the community handicap itself by turning a blind eye to subjects that would benefit them? The emphasis right now is on individual interactions on a situation to situation basis, with some exception when talking about meta-game, but even this is restricted to the field a PUA decides to work in.
To reiterate, utilizing this holistic approach to using knowledge of interaction, members of the community would succeed in more areas of their life than just pick up, and these other parts of their life would in turn help their game. The question is how to affect such a movement, such a shift in the goals of the community, which, I'd claim, are short-sighted. The answer to that question? I do not know. It is imperative, however, should the community wish to keep evolving and progressing.
