I've always loved to write but never really written anything serious so I started a project.

I'm writing a romance novel and hope I will earn a few bucks off it.

I want to create a lot of dramatic shit to happen but have only come up with a few ideas.

Here is the plot:
American soldier gets wounded -> Goes to Italy for a month or two - > Meets Italian girl -> They don't like each other -> They fall in love -> He gets called back to Iraq -> ......... -> They get married (cliche, I know)

The ...... means I don't know what will happen after Iraq so any input here is appreciated! Any input or critique anywhere will be greatly appreciated!

Change the ending.

When hes called back to Iraq he's sent on a mission. And up until this point the man has been a perfect soldier, following every order. On the mission he faces a situation hes not ready for; He's being ordered to rip a man apart from his family and kill him. As he looks at the man he feels like hes staring his own future in the eyes. Turning point. The man shoots the commanding officer instead and goes on the run. He hides for 2 years reflecting on the similarities of man without looking at race or religion and how simple things like love, family and friendship are the true things that bind people together. Not countries governments or ideologies. Hes waiting to return to the Italian woman and after he finally can he finds out that shes married to somebody else. They spend one night together and the man asks her to choose between him and the man shes married to. She chooses her husband. The man is heartbroken and turns himself in for killing his own men. Hes sentenced to die in the electric chair. Then end the book on his last thoughts which can be about the woman and how he didnt treat her right when he deserved to be with her and how he couldnt be with her when he didnt deserve her.
