Ok, so maybe it's not "enjoying the misfortune of others" in the truest sense, but the title of this question is very much relevant to the question within.

I personally feel rather squeamish about the idea of appropriating/stealing a girlfriend from anyone, let alone a friend. HOWEVER, I'm in a situation where not only is it possible, but it may also be better for all parties if I DID "appropriate" my friend's significant other.

Essentially, the question I ask is, morally and ethically where do I stand? All I want is a definite answer to end my plague of doubts and thoughts.
