On Saturday the 8th I travelled into Birmingham to meet up with The Jackal for a marathon session. Naively, I didn't realise how much work it would be for a newbie like myself but it was certainly worthwhile.

to begin with, Jackal would point out sets for me to open and providing me with feedback on my return. At this early stage I had some trouble getting girls to stop and there were a few incidences of AMOGs but I was unfazed- If I were as ugly as them I would likely be rather touchy too when a handsome chap like myself comes to talk to one's girl, however inocuous the situation.

This continued for hours with Jackal and myself walking around Birmingham with Jackal pointing out sets, coming in to wing me.

I seemed to struggle in eliciting interest as once the opinion opener had been used girls seemed to excuse themselves for whatever reason. This streak was broken when I met a very friendly girl named Amy who responded enthusiasticly especially when I tried out some cold reading after some prompting from The Jackal which led to a number close.

After some 5 or 6 hours I began to slump. I had my approach anxiety coming back into play. I felt the pressure lift when Supernova joined us and I was able to play a supporting role as his wing.

After some 7 or 8 hours it was time for me to leave and I have to say I felt my exertion! A marathon session is just that! More importantly my sarge was affirming and instructive as I now have specific areas to work on.
