What I've noticed lately is guys will start by doing things step for step, do everything pickup excatly by the book and it works just fine. Then these guys start trying new things, disregard the book the rules and pickup won't work for then and they go "why doesn't this work?!" and they quit, seriously quit pickup.
There's only one way to work it all, do everything by the book at least for the first year or so and don't do anything differently till you're sure anything else will work, if you want to experiement put one or two new things in your game, take it slow, don't just dramatically change your entire game if it work.
Just yesterday I was doing things by the book, something I haven't done in a week, I used the 3-second rule, 90-10 rule, and everything else, step by step. It worked plain and simple, people I don't know came up to me and asked me how I did that.
Just a giant group of guys, talk about social proof.
Seriously though do it by the book!
