I'm off out tonight with a few friends - 2 girls and a guy. The guy is a classic AFC so I don't think he'd be a good wingman. I've discussed openers and techniques with him before but he just prefers to get drunk then slur out his words to girls, making a fool of himself. He's a laugh anyway.

However, the girls have offered to help us pick up women. They've said that we need to point out a girl that we like, given reasons other than that they are 'hot'. Then they'll go over and chat to them, bigging us up before they introduce us. This bothers me slightly, it seems a bit old fashioned and not sure if it would work. I think it may be better to open a set with one of the girls and get her to disarm any obstacles to leave me with the target. They are Canadian so their accents are well received and should attract some attention.

What is everyone's opinion on girl wings? If other girls see me out with girl friends, does that demonstrate high social value? Would they feel less threatened, therefore making it easier for me to escalate things?

"Girl wings" are called pivots, they work because they provide you oodles of social proof, and if they're willing to help you out, let them help you out. Just make sure that you're opening the sets, not them.
