ive got something that has been running through my head since joining this forum, but before i get into it too much. i am wondering...

is there anyone here who would call themselves a Pick Up Artist??

I dont mean that you have been in the game for a certain amount of time, or that youhave read every PUA publication ever written, but - you feel you have gotten to a point where you have no AA, have several dates a night for a prelonged period of time, create own theories due in field practice and failures and have a very high success rate with pick up, short term and even long term relationships.

Please let me know if you are a Pick Up Artist.....

I don't want to call myself a PUA.I think this is too..much.
But my actions are kind of PUA's..

I do not consider myself a PUA.
I haven't been in the game for a long time now, and I still get approach anxiety (though im sure even mPUA's do at times) and I know that I am not the best that I could be at pick-up. But I do believe that simply by being on this forum sharing ideas and thinking with the mindset I do now counts for something.
PUA is a strong term. It is like calling yourself a magician just because you can do a few simple magic tricks.
I still have my AFC moments. Though I think most people even PUA's do.
So I propose I'm somewhere in between. A purgatory of sorts.
Perhaps a term should be developed for this stage.
rAFC just isn't quite right.
aPUA perhaps? (aspiring Pick-Up Artist)

Yes. I agree with MYSTERY on this one. Your either a PUA or an AFC there is no in between. In my eyes if your out in the field employing PUA-style tactics and using openers, social dynamics etc to achieve your target then yes. Your a PUA.

Sure KING there are different levels of the game, some are just starting and most are still AFC's trying thier damndest to become something close to a PUA, but hey, they are trying.

The PUA is an art form, hense pick up ARTIST. much like martial arts, do you need to be a black belt to call yourself a martial artist? Nope. All you need is to dedicate your time and practise of that art form.

Do i go sarging? Yes. Do i study this art form? Yes
do i fail ? Yes (not often) lol.

I am a magician also but like any vocation in life there will ALWAYS be someone above you and sure to be folk below you. but a magician nonetheless.

I do see where your coming from cause If im holding a mic does that make me a singer? No. All im saying is someone who dedicates themselves to the learning and the PRACTICE of an art form can call themselves an artist in that form. I am a PUA.

But, King, to go back to one of your previous posts, people NEED to get out in practice practice, fail and practice more.

Just reading/learning/reading/watching then going out into the field and shitting yourelf does not make you PUA.

I also wanna say its most important to develope yourself, not emulate anyone else, ive seen people read the game, watch the annihilation method and go out and quote VERBATIM what they just heard.

Ive im teaching someone a Magic Effect and they did it EXACTLY like me i would not be best pleased.

So, in conclusion, (and to quote mystery VERBATIM hehe)

you got me wrong on this one. granted i can be a rude obnoxious prick. but in this post i am not having a go a anyone or calling anyone out. just getting a interst of people who think they are at a high enough level to call themselves (and be honest with themsalves) to be at a level of a Pick Up Artist.

i am not even attempting to put myself above soemone else - cause i know there are people better, much better than me!

Yeah bro and i wasnt having a dig at you. I was just saying what i feel about the PUA.

PUA Mastery mind you, thats a different thing. Again according to some, Mystery etc.. the rule is 5 for 5. open 5 sets one after the other and they all ultimately turn into relationships.

This, i totally disagree with. Sometimes your on your game and sometimes your not., THats why i love it so, cause its so diverse.

In any case, a debate how ever mundane is always good and i love learning. ANYTHING.

Being a pick-up artist isn't a matter of success in the field. It's an art, like any other.

I draw. I'm not particularly good at it, but I enjoy it. I have a fairly basic understanding of line, perspective, foreshortening and shading. I have a style that is distinctly my own (a personal mix of influences from modern North American comic books and Japanese manga).

Am I an artist? Yep. Am I a good one? It's not my place to say.

Pick-up is the same. We have people who have mastered the basics, built their own style, and enjoy a level of success that is easily recognized in the community. Their names are the ones we toss around the forums almost constantly. They are to our art what Jim Lee and Micheal Turner are to the drawing world.

Just because I'm not as good as them doesn't mean I'm not a pick-up artist. I have a fairly strong understanding of approach, rapport, attraction, closing. I have a style that is distinctly my own (a personal mix of influences from Juggler and Mystery). I have contributed to the broadening of theory. My close ratio is admirable. I am in a long-term relationship with someone I want to be with.

Am I a pick-up artist? Yep. Am I a good one? It's not my place to say.

tho thats only due to the fact i cant approach, i still have the mindset that things will go horribly wrong, and due to personal problems ( fuckin cops ) my heads in pieces at the moment.

Once im in convo with a female i believe im charming and attractive to her.

Last night I got chatting to a HB8 and her fat friend, trying to spit game at the HB8 while my drunk friend is making a fool of himself ( and me) and her fat friend is dragging her away is very difficult lol
But the way she gazed into my eyes was a defo IOI

On approach did you talk to her fat friend? Even threw a few negs her way or did you just go straight for the target?

Was her fat friend SO UNBELIEVABLY FAT that niether her nor your target would believe you were chatting her up?? lol. (sorry, my evil streak).

LOL off topic but heres what happened. well, this was outside a takeaway, got chattin to the 2 drunk girls was being sociable and negging both of them c+f style, (while my drunk friend keeps interuupting talkin nonsense) we go outside to smoke, i found out fatty is from cyprus (im half cypriot) so was chatting to her about that for a while, then I turned my attention to the HB - they both started talking about their boyfriends (fattys is 37 apparently!) but I could tell the HB was intrested then fatty walked off to a taxi rank while HB was chatting to me but fatty kept shouting for HB to hurry up. I managed to get a cuddle and a piece of popcorn chicken from her!

I am not nearly as good as some of the guys on this forum (looking at you in particular here meth you beast) but I still practice the art.
