First you need to figure out what his sticking points are, if you are familiar with the game, it should be quit easy to notice these.
You say he has no AA, he's confident, so obviously those aren't a problem for him (good for him, as those are some of the most important aspects), but see where he screws up (watch him in the field for this). Then tell him about it, first thing in improving is realizing your flaws. Then go trough with him how he could do better and again go to the field, see how he does. In the end you'll have one fine wingman for yourself
