"Do you like her?" "Well it is hard for me to know if I like her yet.. I have only known her for 20 mins. She is attractive... but I can't base that on if I like her or not." _________________ Party on Wayne! Party on Garth!

You can always tell though, you just have to pay attention. If you see them talking in each others ear or close during anytime of the pickup your best guess is, YES that is an IOI. In which case I'd respond with something along the lines of, "we'll see..." / "i don't know i've only known her for 20 minutes, she seems nice" / "(other remark showing half intrest)" (keep in mind they should be jazzed up, those are basic). If you don't see them talking it could be just an honest question and the target could or couldnt like you. So I'd go with a remark that tends to be more of a subtle neg. "shes cool" "shes nice" "(something else that is positive but borderline neutral/neg)", and then move right on with conversation with her friend. Make sure it doesn't look like your trying to change the subject, just redirect the conversation as if the question didn't even register. This will protect you while still enabling you to continue on with the pickup.
