Feigning interest in boring conversation

Do you do it? I'll admit sometimes i try and feign interest, but that usually dies after a few minutes and my contempt for their conversation usually shows. Things like my ex GF talking about falling over when with her friend, and thinking it was hilarious enough to tell me about. :?

So would you advise feigning interest, then changing the topic? Or would you show that the mundane crap they're coming out with is just that, mundane?

i wouldn't really fake interest too much..
use it as an opportunity to neg for boring conversation... then take control and talk about something more interesting....

also, she might actually think that the conversation is boring too-- chances are, if this is the case, she could actually be looking for you to bring up something better

obviously there is a time and place for faking interest (being polite)... just use your best judgment
