When you DHV by telling stories, you are, in essence, bragging. However, overt bragging is DLV because it demonstrates insecurity. Nobody likes people who brag. The skill to develop is the ability to toot your own horn in such a way that it effectively flips attraction switches, while at the same time, is subtle enough to not be noticed.

To digress for a moment, here’s a funny story about last night..

There was a guy in a crowded college bar who was wearing a (no shit) football helmet. I don’t know if it was on dare or a product of losing a bet. I began talking to him and before long, he said he would give me $20 if I could pick up a girl wearing the helmet. I agreed. I walked up to a girl and just starting running game as usual. I talked to her for about 10minutes before taking the helmet off and kissing her and #closing.

This morning, I polished this story up a little bit and added it to my DHV library.

The DHV story, as I will tell it, will go something like this:

“A guy told me he’d give me $20 if I could pick a girl up wearing this football helmet. Loving a good challenge, I accepted. But let me tell you something, that shit works! I think I picked up that girl –because- of the helmet! I’m gonna start wearing one every time I go to a bar”

Basically, the story says “my game is so good I can pick up a girl even while wearing a ridiculous football helmet in a bar.” However, using false modesty, (i.e., saying that I believe it was the helmet that got me the girl), it doesn’t come across like I’m bragging—

As far as I know, no authors have really characterized this concept for DHV. I think it can be really powerful. In the future I will use this as a model to build DHV stories using this concept of false modesty.

That guy was stupid to make a bet like that! Helmet = peacock, right? Hell, any time I have a stupid hat on girls always wanna try it on and try to steal it on me and shit. Over here there are a few bars which hand out these huge WKD hats, they're huge furry orange things with blue horns on them lol they're awesome. Anyway yeah it's a good story, good example of DHV and when you tell it with modesty like that it's perfect!
