Yeah, I had something similar happen to me not all that long ago. This woman was helping my neighbor across the hall with some groceries. I was going into my apartment at the same time with some stuff and she made some comment about her not helping me too. It seemed to have been in an attempt at humor and not in a mean spirited way but it took me by surprise. I think women do it more to test a guy whereas men do it more to show he isn't concerned with trying to impress a woman or gain her approval(at least not in the way most guys do it ie"hey babe can you light my cigarette because you are smoking..."). When females do it it could be like them beating us at our own game but I doubt that is their intention. I think they are just being mildly friendly or flirty or possibly just testing to see how you react to it but they probably don't do that consciously. In fact very little of their testing is done consciously. They just do it as a way to separate the men from the boys. It's part of their genetic wiring to test us(at least for the hot ones who get hit on all the time. The average looking ones are usually just happy with the attention you give them and usually tend to be far less maintanance but they are also less likely to get Willy excited).

Actually, they DO consciously test guys. That's why the HOT ones do it and the average ones don't. If it was w/o them thinking about it, all females would do it. The hot ones do it as a way to weed out the men from the boys, you are right on that. Because they have options, just as a PUA has options.
