I think the reason a lot of people have poor posture is that their back muscles are weak. I'd recommend a lot of core building exercises. Pull ups, sit ups, and pushups and all kinds of variants of the above.

Be sure to stretch well at least once everyday. I prefer to stretch out before I go to bed as well, helps relax the muscles and improves blood flow. I also usually wake up w/o the typical stiffness and discomfort that I'm used to if I don't stretch.

Check your posture when you haven't been thinking about it. My job usually dictates that I'm seated for 1.5 - 2hrs at a time and I'm usually pretty task saturated at the time. Whenever I get a moment's pause I check my posture, adjust, get back to work.

A quick set of guidelines to get your posture right. Eyes level, chin in, and pull your head up. In Style's Annihilation method, he mentions that your spine is really at the base of your skull, not just above the shoulder blades like most people believe. So imagine a string pulling your head straight up from the back of your skull.

Shoulders (my weakness), shrug your shoulders, roll them back, and let them drop.

Hips, flex your abs and roll your hips up.

Now try and elongate your spine and let everything relax w/o shifting. Take your time making sure you get everything aligned and hold it. Do this more and more frequently for longer durations. Eventually it'll become muscle memory.

This is kind of hard to explain w/o me standing face to face w/ you. So if you have questions, please ask.
