| I'm going to tell you flat out that momentum is a poweful tool that we should all be exploiting the shit out of, hands down. For those of you who choose not to take advantage and/or accept its existence or importance then I would like to do a mini cold read on your life. Ok... It's coming clearer, I see an old man... His skin is leathered and wrinkled and as hard as I try to pretend to see a smile or a hint of happiness in his face I can not make out anything of the sort. Let's talk to him.
Jack: Excuse me sir, but I couldn't help but realize that your clothes are dull and drab, your face is wizened and you just punched a baby in the face. What would provoke you to do such an atrocious thing!?
Oldman: Fuck you jack, go away.
Jack: That is no way to speak to a knight of the round sir (reference to a position I have at a site I mod)! I shall have your head if you keep this up! Now answer my question at once sir!
Oldman: Forgive me... I am simply the way I am because of the lack of initiative I took in my life during my younger years which in turn paved the way for my latter years.
Jack: If there is one thing that you would change what would it be?
Oldman: You know what, I think I would roll with the momentum that life occasionaly brings us, and if I was smart, I should have been doing the same with the momemtum that I should have been creating.
Maybe I took it a little too far, but whatever, I want to let it be known how important of a matter I believe the benefit of harnessing the power of momentum truely is.
It is something that isn't tangible but the effects of momentum can be seen very clearly. We are able to see the power of it firsthand right now with Barack Obama's political momentum taking over state after state due to the fact that people don't want to vote for "the loser" if it looks like they (she) are going to lose. Nobody ever wants to be on the losing team fyi... Another example is when a sports team goes on a streak and gains momentum. The fans start feeding energy to the players, in turn their motivation and their game gets increased/tighter leaving the other team, typically, with an inverse effect.

Some quotes about momentum
Anthony Robbins
The most important thing you can do to achieve your goals is to make sure that as soon as you set them, you immediately begin to create momentum.
Peg Wood
Commitment is the ignitor of momentum.
J the Ripper (about how momentum has helped him in field)
So now after these 9 days [of straight sarging], I feel like I came away learning more about myself than at any other point in my PUA life. Thats why I push newbies take these types of missions on, it not only helps accellerate your game, but opens up alot of things about yourself that maybe you didnt notice before...
We're going out again tonight, night #10 for me.

From my own personal experience I am able to confirm that when having momentum on my side, I have had much greater successes. The key is, it's typically a snowball effect- if you let it be! For example, there aren't many opportunities for an ignorant person living in a small town in the middle of america with no education and athletic ability. However, give the person some motivation to form a commitment to achieve something and they will undoubtedly reap the benefits and momentum will be lurking at the door waiting to be unleashed.
There are two types of momentum that I am concerned with:
1) The momentum that the world throws at you hoping you catch on
2) The momentum that you create
I am in no way concerned with the first type because it is insignificant compared to the second type- the only type we have any control over. So, how do you create that momentum? The answer is simply taking that first step! According to Newton, an object at rest will stay at rest unless acted upon by an outside force and an object in motion will stay in motion (or something like that). What makes us any different! We need to take that first step! STAY IN MOTION!
AFC: But Jack! The first step is sooo hard to take! It will be pointless and I will see no results anyways so whats the point?
Jack: Whats the point you ask?! What is the point?! The point is so that you learn how to get what you want out of life! You are most likely not here because you are completely satisfied with your life. You are most likely stuck in the same routine day after day with the same weak frame of mind and the same lack of desired results. Your 'cause' stays the same and yet you expect different 'effects.' What's wrong with your thinking!
AFC: I don't know... (thinking for a second) I guess its just too hard... It's too much work... I'd rather sit on my couch and masturbate all day to riki lake reruns because it doesn't require any effort on my part then actually do something with my life
Jack: So your afraid to actually do some 'work'? Is that all? Your afraid that your work that you will hypothetically do to try and better yourself will yield no immediate tangible results and that you will have wasted that time where you could have been catching up on season 13 of battlestar galtactica. Well, let me tell you this. I'm tired of this generation's infatuation and greed for instant gratification! It's going to be the ruin of us all if we don't take note of it and act accordingly. We have digital cameras that instantly show us the picture making a polaroid an inconveinance, we have pop-tar.ts that take 2 minutes to cook in the toaster yet for the more 'on-the-go' lifestyle they have an optional microwave cooking instruction that only takes 3 seconds! What is happening to this world where we get everything we think we want at our fingertips immediately, only to become people without a clue as to what we really want. We walk around wandering like lemmings buying the next item to give us more time to sit on our asses and waste the days away because we are afraid of breaking a sweat or even using our brain to question why something is. What you need to do is realize that the things in life takes time and effort. They teach you in school that you should 'shoot for the stars so you can land among the moon.' Well fuck that, you need to do whatever it takes for you to get up off your ass and get in motion so you can start to stay in motion!
I digressed a little but whatever
The main point
I can't really tell you right now exactly how momentum is affecting my personal life, as I am only recently starting to see the tangible effects of it. But let me tell you this, if I were to stop right now, take a break, get back into my old routine, I would lose it all. It's not a question of me telling you to roll with the momentum because it will benefit you in the long run and will accelerate you acheiving your goals in life, some that you didn't even think you had. But rather I am telling you this, you need to roll with the momentum because if you don't, you will run out of steam and you will stop trying because the hardest step is that first one. You don't want to have to take that first step 100 times because when it gets to that 101st 1st step, you won't have it in you. Get into the rhythym of things and build some momentum because I'm not lying when I tell you this, but its all downhill from here once you have made that commitment.
