Appreciation, something I feel that many of us lack.

Appreciation for simple things, like food, water, shelter, and life. Things we see as basic entities are considered extreme luxaries to millions, perhaps billions of people worldwide. Beyond the simple things in life, we need to set back and learn to appreciate life as a whole, which includes everything in it. Appreciate the ups and downs of your path, the joy and sadness, the memories and dreams.

I was intensely inspired tonight while hanging out with a woman I am quite content with (to say the least). And I just began to be overwhelmed in this feeling of joy and appreciation for EVERYTHING at that moment. A Zen encounter perhaps, pure bliss. Something like a mini-Nirvana. As we lay on the couch in front of the Christmas tree, under the soft light of the candles. The deep conversation we were having, the connection between our breath, thoughts and beings, her beautiful voice, eyes, and figure, the fruit I was munching on, the Jack Johnson song playing in the background, EVERYTHING. What could possibly be better than a moment like that? Nothing. And the thing is, moments like that are so simple that they can occur at any time, and they can range from any imaginative combination of things.

In the John Mayer song, "Your Body is a Wonderland" he says something along the lines of "...if you want love, you've gotta make it." I also have a deeper understanding and appreciation for such a miraculous nugget of wisdom such as that. Think about it!

The path to self-mastery is one filled with many mysteries, but I am positive that appreciation is an essential quality of a man who is defined by excellence.

PEACE. LOVE. PROSPERITY.
METH!

Great post man! You're right a lot of time we don't appreciate what we have.

Ditto, that's a hell of a post. I spent a few weeks in a backwards-ass mountain village in Italy this summer. Made me pine for New Jersey. I appreciated America so much more when I got back that I've decided to go into the service. If you are reading this post, you've got it better than I'd say 70% of the world, who couldn't imagine affording computer or Internet technology. How often do you have to steal for a meal, or does the question of where you are going to sleep tonight cross your mind?
Appreciate what you have, strive to better yourself everyday.
