The best friends test is pretty basic, and great to deliver after an opener to 'break into their world'. However, it's very widely used so I'm asking if anyone has any good alternatives.

Roleplaying and any other cold reading. I'm assuming you're asking about 2-sets since the best friends test is designed for 2-sets. One thing you can do is just start roleplaying. Get creative and do whatever you want. You can do what Tim from RSD does and say to your target, "you're my new girlfriend for the next five minutes," and pretend you went camping with her friend Sally, standing right next to her, and cheated on her with Sally. From there it should be super easy to cold read to "break into their world" in the way Style does, but you've broken into their world by providing a fun time for them anyway.

Ultimately, it's all a matter of your personal style.
