The Role of Money in Pickup
Preview: virtually nil.
A looooooooooooong time ago, when I first met youse guys at
Starbuck's, Chief presented an opinion opener involving an article he
read about women finding a guy who was ABOUT to get fifty million
dollars sexier than a guy who already HAD fifty million dollars. Some
theories as to why this was the case were offered (and Frigid opened a
nearby set with it), but the results were ultimately inconclusive.
Some doctrine (Blueprint) states that money has precisely jack shit to
do with how attractive you are. The number of "starving artist"
naturals attests to this. But some information I ran across recently
can perhaps shed a bit more light on this subject.
The human sex drive finished its evolution a long time ago. The last
changes of any kind were during the Pleistocene era.

During that time, humans wandered around in hunter-gatherer bands.
Guys would go out and spear animals, girls would gather fruits and
nuts and stuff. And it was practically impossible to accumulate
wealth. Your personal property consisted of whatever you could carry,
and food was shared and eaten immediately because there was no way to
preserve it.
Furs? Elaborate worn status symbols? Not yet. Humans didn't start
wearing clothing until at least a hundred thousand years ago, and at
the most, half a million years ago.

So imagine a world where it isn't possible to accumulate wealth, and
therefore where accumulated wealth is irrelevant to how attractive a
male is. What is attraction based on? Social status, mostly. How does
a guy acquire social status? By being a good hunter and bringing back
lots of meat for his tribe. And by outmaneuvering other guys in power
struggles, too. Be a good hunter -> get props, which could -> become
leader of tribe.
So when the human sex drive stopped evolving, women weren't attracted
to accumulated wealth because it didn't exist. They were, however,
attracted to the ability to acquire wealth (in context, food in the
form of dead animal). That meant that women were attracted to the
personality traits that made a good hunter, including a balance of
patience and aggressiveness, fearlessness, decisiveness, et cetera. As
well as social proof for being a good hunter.
This is not to say that being rich won't get you laid, but then it's
not you that the girl is attracted to; it's your money. She'd be using
her vajayjay (or the promise thereof) as a means to get to your
monies. And like Blueprint pointed out, having money can instantly
pigeonhole you into the role of provider-chode, which is a crappy
place to be. And nobody likes golddiggers.
So what does money have to do with anything? In short, very little.
You need money to get to a club, get into a club, and have a place to
do the sex. Aside from that, though, having money won't do you any
good. You just have to demonstrate through your personality that you'd
make a good hunter a couple hundred thousand years ago. Winning a
poker tournament will likely make you sexier than cashing a dividend
check.
