forumites! Today is Earth Day. Lets spread some happiness for that.

A lot of people say that this "holiday" has run its course; that it consumes more than it provides. I believe this only be the case because there is inadaquate publicity and volunteering opportunities. Things have become a festival rather than a cause.

Here are several websites with volunteering opportunities in your area, and some general "Be Green" tips.

http://www.epa.gov/earthday/
http://earthday.envirolink.org/
http://www.earthday.net/
http://www.treehugger.com/gogreen.php
http://earth911.org/

I am not going to turn all preachy; this is not the place for it ;). But I will request that everyone become a little more concious about their impact on the environment. At all times, realize you can (and should) give back as much as you take!

So, as you go throughout your day, just keep in mind that today is Earth Day. Understand that every day should be a day of the Earth.

Take steps to:
  • -Reduce your ecological footprint; reduce resource consumption: water, electricity, food, fuel.

-Minimize your trash output. Maximize your recycling.

    -Reuse things that can be.

    -Educate others!

-Drive less - run, bike, blade, or swim to your destinations. It will increase your health and physique which has exponential benefits, some which can be connected and applied to 'Pick Up Art'.

-When purchasing things, try to go with environmentaly friendly items - Also another change that can be linked to 'Pick Up Art.' You can use these items as props in your game: openenrs, topics of conversation, dhving yourself (because you care!).

    -ect ect.

There are hundreds of things you can do. Five minutes of research slash application, will lead to invaluable results. And everyone, at the least...plant a tree.

Happy festivities and happy cause!

Well everyone, while Nalagene is working on producing cancer free water bottles, please visit:
http://www.mysigg.com/ :
for a great alternative as well.

Now Delta, if only you could point out that bread, preservatives, and sugar alternatives also cause things ranging from brain tumors to caner. (stop it, you're scaring the people!)

Everything that is not natural is going to be in some way harmful to us. Whether the effects are known or not; large or not.....if it isn't natural, it isn't meant to be in a natural body. But hey, there are certain sacrifices we are willing to make to ensure stability of our lifestyles, and certain sacrifices we have to make to ensure the stability of the planet.

I know....haha; it is unfortunate too...I have so many bottles.

Technically for me, this means water causes cancer. Well, fuck it then....might as well just start smoking ;)

If you watch the news enough, they'll come out saying that watching the news causes cancer. I remember when I was a kid, the big news story was that apples cause cancer, then it was milk, then it was eggs. Listen, we're all gonna die either way. If you eat twigs and berries for the rest of your life, you might just get whacked by a bus. Well, just for the record, I recycle whenever possible.

Stupid hard plastic media scare. Everything causes cancer, the air you breathe for fuck's sake. Half the food you eat has crap in it from how much we've destroyed the earth and I'm willing to bet that the amount of cancer caused by hard plastics is a small percent of a percent of the population.

Don't eat fish either, cause certain drugs don't get broken down in your body and when you go to the bathroom they make their way out to the ocean, where fish absorb them.

I'm just gonna go hide in an air tight box in safety...

But seriously, take the extra effort to help the environment. If you've got garbage, don't throw it on the ground, toss it in a garbage. Don't throw out recycleables.

ZOMG!! Be on the lookout for fluoride; when taken in excess (easy to accomplish because it is put in everything) it can:

make your teeth fall out
give you cancer (oh, weird....)
give you brittle bones
osteroperosis
arthritis
brain damage
and more.

fluoride also gives the Earth cancer. poor poor Earth.

thanks for the input Gentleman. I hope we all are doing a little extra something.

I'm gonna make all the tree huggers here cry and say my ecological footprint is 7,6 acres. (about 6 times the average).

As for all this environmental-BS.

It Has NOT been scientifically proven

The only use this earth stuff has is getting the public on your side.

I studies a few codes related to these things(can't remember which ones where planet codes though): ETI, SA8000, OESO, and some of which the name keeps slipping.
