I had no idea there was a facebook version of scrabble and when I found out I was quite excited. For a start, I love games, I'm stupidly competitive and I love games that utilize my mind. I'm a Magic the Gathering playing nerd for goodness sakes. Secondly, I saw the potential with this game. I have a fair few female friends on facebook who I've maybe only met once - maybe I met them in a bar and had a chat, for whatever reason never sealed the deal. This was one of those girls. I'd met her in a bar about 3-4 months ago and had a fairly easy going, just getting to know her chat. At the time I thought she was pretty cute - dyed pink hair and a lip piercing, nice eyes and a decent body. A good 7.5-8 in my book. So I challenged to her to a game and then started talking to her more. I bet her a pint that she wouldn't beat me and when she did, I offered her double or quits. During our convo we were kind of flirty, with the odd mention of how we think sexually, nothing out of the ordinary. We were competitive and pretty jokey too.

She beat me again. With those two losses, we already had a date set up. We played a third game but made no bet on it but she decided she would buy me a pint back. We decided it was going to be a game of real life scrabble in a nice pub. Before we met, she had had a glass of wine and I had had 3 pints of beer with a friend as I'm helping him close his shop. So to be fair, we were already a little lubricated. We continued the banter as we played scrabble and had the odd passer by make comment. We were just cool, relaxed and even allowed a slang. The first game she put down porn and when I asked the bar man for suggestions, he suggested I put down a y and make porny. Which she allowed. Game 2, I put down clits and she said "well you're doing better than most men being able to find it." We laughed and I asked "is it really that difficult?" When we finished the game, I suggested we go to another pub for a change of scene where we had our fifth drink. During the night, I paid for 3 rounds but these were paying bets. She bought the other two and said something like "I don't expect you to refuse a drink." When we had our fifth one, one thing led to another and we began kissing and making out.

I told her to move closer to me and she raised her eyebrow as if "are you bossing me around here?" and I responded by saying "just a suggestion." The bar was looking to close so I suggested we go to my house and she can meet my kitten. When we got there I realized my cat was in my mothers room so I gave her a second option - a glass of captain morgan's and a seat on the couch. It didn't take long for things to take their course. Just kissing, then clothes were coming off. There wasn't in the way of resistance.. I think this due to the frame we had from the start that we're both mature, responsible adults. We shall definitely meet up again but we both know we're not going to be around this city for a long time - she's leaving for her course in Manchester and I'm leaving to teach in Barcelona.

I'm not one of these PUAs out to tap everything - I'd rather have a bit of connection and a bit of fun with girls, I just wanted to show that there are some alternative methods to picking them up.
