So I just joined this website today and definitely had it on my mind when I went out to the community pool in my neighborhood. (I don't know all the lingo and acronyms, so bear with me here). There is this arcade machine that I couldn't get to work, and thought I'd use that as an excuse to approach her for help. However, I failed the 3-second rule as I second-guessed myself and started to leave before overcoming my AA and turned back around.
I went up to her and very clumsily, with jumbled up words, asked her for help (I hadn't thought about what I would say before I said it). She didn't mind me talking to her and even tried to help me to get the game to work, but she couldn't figure it out either.
This is where I failed. I didn't know how to transition to actually talking to her, and I just let her walk away. It's obvious what I did wrong, but how could I have followed up the initial approach?
That's where I failed too, damn it's really hard to transcend from the opener to actual conversation. It's not that easy
