There is this big after work thing in downtown charlotte, maybe 1 or 2 hundred people. I go pretty much every thursday. I've only recently been single (after 4 years), so I figured I would jump in head first.

I think objectively that I'm an attractive dude. I work out constantly, but I'm very shy. I went by myself and opened (2) 2 sets.

In retrospect, I did everything wrong. I asked names, I asked where they were from, what they did, I showed interest, I was really self-deprecating. My humor is always self deprecating, I guess defensively, but I was over the top I think.

The girls weren't even as cute as my ex, who's maybe an 8. And after about 5 minutes of me interviewing them, they had to "make their rounds". I'm not sure the place is super amenable to pick up, but my actions certainly didn't help. I didn't ask for numbers, probably the one thing I did right.

A gross chick approached me and chatted me up. I was feeling dejected so I let her. She ended up number closing me and texting me, which I flaked on.

Anyway I think I got some good data (about myself). Future endeavors should prove more fruitful.
