Here goes my first field report. Last Saturday after getting back in town from my rugby match I decided to head down to the beach bars and meet up with some friends to go out to the bars. No one was at the beach so we headed down town. Bars close at 2am here and we got there around midnight.
We go to a bar called Sputnik; it’s got a dance floor and a small bar. When we got there it was also dead, but we decided to stay and see if it picked up. We made our way over to the bar and ordered some drinks. I noticed this 3 set a few feet away from us (HB6-8). They were eyeing our group over so my buddy Elton and I moved in.
I don’t remember what we opened with, but it was too loud to hear anyway. We all get to talking and find out they are all from Russia. I have never thought a Russian accent could be sexy, and I was wrong. Elton points to an imaginary stain one of the girls shirts as the conversation started to die, she looks down and he does that thing where you push their nose up and said made you look. They ate that up.
One of the girls turned to get a drink and bumped into me. I neg her for being clumsy then tell her “I know I look sexy, but I am not some slab of meet for her to man handle all night.” She couldn’t keep her hands off me for the rest of the night. Each time she touched me I counted it on my fingers, it turned into a game for her.
The girls said that they were going to go dance downstairs where there is a bigger dance floor. They obviously wanted us to follow them, but we didn’t. I turned to Elton and told them they would be back. Sure enough ten minutes later they came back upstairs and right up to us. After are a little more chatter I was dragged onto the dance floor (I hate dancing) so I danced with her for a little bit and then went and got a drink. She followed me to the bar. I continued to raise kino and neg (Russians in a bar called Sputnik…to easy). Last call came, ended the night with a k close and number.
I do have a few questions. What do you all do when it’s too loud to talk or even hear? Do you just favor places with better SPAM or just deal with it? I want to avoid leaning into the conversation. How do you dance? Am I the only one who finds the Russian and Sputnik thing funny?
