This is pretty long, but it's my first FR so just bare with me.
I went to buy some food from the store the other day, and one of the workers at a sample table was there that I had previously tried to pick up on by simply asking, what are you doing after work? (cuz yeah that works...) but got a sorry I have a boyfriend line out of it.
I casually walked by not looking at her to see if she would say anything to me, she didn't so I kept shopping. As I was leaving I walked by her and just said some small talk and then left. Once I got back home, I realized that I forgot something so I went back. I got the two things I needed and went over to the samples and just started eating one and made some comments on them and she played along. She asked me to fill out this coupon thing that asked for information and she said that she's not gonna spam me, but the company might. I put my phone number on there and turned what she said to me into a joke, "So the companies not gonna spam my phone, but you will?". She just said if you want me too, smiling, and I smiled back. I stood there and talked with her for about 30 minutes, making some jokes with other employees that would come by, and telling her what food she should put out for samples. Earlier she said something about going to the gym next door that I also go to, but never seeing me there (I go morning, she goes nights), so as I was leaving I told her that she has my number (from the thing I filled out) and should text me when shes going to the gym and we can workout.
Immediately after she gets off work I get a text message from her which is really where I think my game took off, because earlier I didn't think I did that good of a job in actually gaming, but it worked since she texted me. I'm gonna call her sharon. It started off like this:
Her: Hey this is sharon from fresh& easy, I just got off work how was the rest of your day?
Me: Hey sharon from fresh&easy

, just had a typical day, saved a kitten from a tree, put out a car fire, helped a lady cross the street. How was work after I left?
Her: I didn't know you were a firefighter (I'm not). Do they let you drive the truck? And work was fine. A lot better after you were gone, actually. I actually talked to customers. You know, my job. lol (cuz she was talking to me the whole time I was standing there)
Me: Lol. I helped you out, I sold some of that lasagna you put out (which I recommended). I don't get to drive the truck, but I get to ride in the ladder seat on the back and swing it around.
Her: 'Some shit about turning on the siren'
Me: Lol...im not actually a fireman. You're cute for believing me though
Her: Aww. See, now you're not so interesting anymore...Oh well. I guess ill survive somehow...
Me: I hate to disappoint you like that, but if i told you what i really did...id have to kill you, and id hate for fresh and easy to lose their sample girl.
After this she played along saying that I work for the CIA, I ran with this for a while. She would try to neg me, I'd turn it around, make it funny, and neg her back. I could tell she was trying to qualify me because she would ask stuff like why do you think you're deserving enough to know that? when talking about talents, which I also turned around at the very end of our conversation because she asked me about some of my talents. I told her I was very gullible and she made a joke of my picture being the definition, and since she believed I was a fireman I told her that I saw her picture next to the definition of gullible also. She said "Really, I'd like to see that entry. Maybe you could show me?" and I set up a date for Wednesday night after 7 when she gets out of class. In total, texts went back and forth for three hours straight. It ended with:
Her: And why do you think you have such a great mind? I mean I know I'm awesome. but you? Not convinced yet.
Me: Well besides being an engineer, I am also quite talented in other things. (I was gonna try to qualify some actual talents but I figured this worked better.)
Her: Like...
Me: Sorry you're just gonna have to find out for yourself
Her: Looking forward to it
All I did was talk to her and be my normal joking self, I was actually surprised how easy it was, but I've began to realize that if I'm cool, calm, collect, and confident, my game is pretty damn good compared to when I'm not any of those. My problem will be keeping it up when I see her on Wednesday since its more one on one because behind a phone I at least have time to think about my responses, but in person I fumble. We'll see, I'm pretty sure it will be fine because she seemed pretty into me by the end of the night and as long as I stay collected I'll be fine.
