THE APPROACH:

The party ended up outside in the streets of campus. My game wasn't really 'on', but I was feigning that confidence and feeling of self-comfort that you put on when it's not on. "Fake it till you make it."

I was remembering one principle to guide me through the night: University game is about being the fun, sociable guy. It's different here than on the street. Approaches have consequences. Day 2 game is essential and inevitable. Simple opinion openers won't always do the trick here. So I was trying something completely different; smile, have fun, meet and talk to everybody.

One of the groups I approached consisted of two chicks, both HB7-8s, and one guy. I approached with as much confidence as I could muster.

"Hey, have I met you before? Sorry, I'm terrible with names."

Which led into some fun small talk. I tried to number-close after a few minutes (perhaps too soon, far too soon) and got completely blown out with a mega shit test.

"Hey, I'm adding contacts to my phone, I might as well add you too."

"Haha, okay wait, give me one good reason that I should give you my number. You've got three minutes."

My mind was like: FUUUUCK. What now. There must be some clever thing to say, some witty retort that will charm this chick and get me past the shit test. But I couldn't think of it.

This is where I crumbled.

"Alright, well I honestly can't think of anything. I'll admit it, I suck with girls. My game blows. Like, I suck. But thanks for being a challenge, I appreciate that."

Ha, I know, I know. One of the worst things I could do - completely eliminate any dominant social frame that already wasn't there.

She told me thats okay and blah blah blah, and said I did good but I could do better. She was actually pretty nice after that. Then we parted ways.

I didn't end up getting her number.

Suggestions? Comments? Constructive / ego destroying criticism?
I appreciate your help.

If you had established any sense of attraction from her, I would have merely said "don't give me that shit (with a smile). What's your number?"

Of course that line relies on the fact that you have actual confidence. It's honestly difficult to mask the fact that you are not confident if you do not have it. It always shines through in your actions.

This is kind of deep for a post but you need to take a look inside yourself and settle some of the problems you have there. The rest will fix itself.

Just like my sig says. Don't think you are, Know you are.

How about the Ol' reverse?

"Hmmm, well you give me two reasons why I should take your number?"

Smile
