So my school is on the quarter system meaning we don't start til the end of september but i moved into my apartment last week and we threw a little house warming party to celebrate. The turnout was pretty good, about 50 people and a lot of girls i hadn't met yet.

A three set came into the kitchen, a guy and two girls, one girl, V (target) was with them. We all introduced ourselves since i didn't know them and immediately after i almost froze and lost it all. Digression: my roommate gave me a copy of Style's The game and i've been reading that furiously lately so most of my "technique" is based on that and my own characteristics ha.

At this point i was stumbling in my head to find something interesting to say when the other girl in the set opted for all of us to take shots. (whew, huge sigh of relief, gives me 2 minutes recover.) we took the shots and the target made a booze grimmace, so i decided to try a neg. "is this your first time drinking? then laughed." everyone in the set including her laughed and joked around with her. We began asking the menial questions such as what is your major blah blah blah but i segued into a story about how my friends and i ended up picking a dog up off the street on the 4th of july. they seemed pretty intrigued but i got interrupted and had to leave the conversation to help a roommate out with some housekeeping. regardless i came back and the set seemed excited for my return. i tried another neg. I said "anyone wanna play flip cup, that is if you think you're up to the challenge." the set all responded eagerly and we proceeded to play. to my surprise, my target placed herself next to me and we kept conversation going the entire game. She was really good too, she could flip it over almost every time so i called her clutch just in a joking manner. I even took the liberty of gently touching her during the game in a sportsman kind of way. we played a few rounds and retired to my roommates room to smoke a little but they all refused. Regardless, V was still by my side, so i began talking to her and we got on the topic of emotional connections and the convo was pretty solid. She even referred back to my remark of her being clutch.. (i took that as an IOI). before i knew it, her friends had left and the two of us were isolated. we were interrupted because some guy outside put on this fake german accent and tried to get into our party so i left the room saying i would ask the people that lived there if he could come in. i left and she followed. in the hallway we both laughed about the guys attempted crash. At this point i split off for sometime to talk with other friends and some other guy had also started gaming. I would look over and see him talking to her and she didn't seem interested. I even caught her look over at me once during their conversation. Finally, i was talking to a group of friends and she was still talking to this guy to my immediate left and she just leaned in and said something quietly. I turned to their conversation and said pardon me, she repeated and said "i was just saying you're a really cool guy." (took this as a second IOI) so i joined them and the other guy disappeared.

I left again to help someone out and came out to see her sitting on the couch in the living room with the other guy hanging over her. quite a few people were dancing in the living room so i started to by myself, doing various walks, glides, freezes pops. (i'm not a great dancer but i'm ok and i really enjoy it.) it got her attention. i think she focused on me because i looked back and he was gone. so i went in for it. I asked her to join and dance, she said something i couldn't understand so i sat next to her and she said i was a really good dancer. I wouldn't say that about myself so i said thanks but i'm not good, i just go with it. she blushed and kept complementing me. i took this as an ioi but right before i tried to close, her friends came up and swooped her off the couch to the balcony, before i knew it, they left in a big train with only a quick "bye!"

maybe i was wrong about the signals or something but i thought i had a chance. i think once she left i should have moved to the kitchen to make her find me to say bye, then i would have known or had the chance to get her number
