Last night I attempted my first sarge using a “game” mentality. I set myself a few simple goals for the night, approach at least five sets and obey the three second rule.
The night started by psyching myself up with some pool, tunes and pre-drinks at mate’s house. My wing for the night Addiction came to pick me up around 9 and we headed out to a small local bar. We scanned the room and counted only two “4 sets”, a two “2 set” and one “7 set” with none of the girls breaking a 6. Both still nervous the three second rule went out the window. It was 5 minutes before went to the bar figuring we should do something instead of standing around and losing value. We bought red bulls in a glass figuring there is something social accepted about looking liking your drinking.
With red bulls in hand we opened the two set. Addiction used the Denmark, kangaroo, orange routine and I challenged them to start the empty dance floor then negged there confidence. We got them onto the dance floor got bored with them excused our self and switched clubs.
The next bar was fully but again we failed the three second rule. Eventually we split up and each opened a different three set. I went for a mixed three a couple and a single. Unfortunately the target was part of another group and I was unable to lock her in. I had a good chat with the couple excuse myself went to the bar bought two drinks and handed one to Addiction to join his set. He had successfully positioned himself to effectively isolate his target from the obstacles. I arrived at the group and apparently they had been watching my last attempt. I guess that was a “social proof” as I was getting IOI’s from the word go. Continued chatting until I kissed-closed and left as it was getting late and I had to start work in 4 hours.
Thought it was an ok first attempt, I know I have so much to learn and room for a lot of improvement but hey you have to start somewhere. Few problems with the night that I need to work on, three second rule I suck at and I don’t know how to use negs and FTC. Wondering if there are any key difference people have found in number closing on an Australian that are normally happy to give you there number but less likely to suggest giving you there number?

Very nice. A lot of times, you see people going out sarging for the first time and either not approach at all, or immediately eject after their opener. So getting k-close the very first time is great.

-Did you run warm-up sets? Good for AA -> 3-second rule (and state).

-"Don't know how to use negs". Keep them playful and calibrate a lot. You don't have to use negs directly though, not showing direct interest (or inconsistent interest) to your target is often 'negative' enough. (And if it's not, you'll know.)

-FTC. I don't really see how this can be a problem. It's easiest to just pop it out right after the 'Hey, [FTC], [Opener]'. It's a very short sound-bite with a huge impact. And if you say that you'll have to go after a minute, you can still be in that set after 20 minutes, they won't think it's weird, often even think it's nice.

"I have to go back to my friends in a minute" - 15 min. later, they ask you about it - "Well, you guys are just more fun right now. But stay sharp, cause you can blow it any second.. .. especially you (directed at your target(Neg), after which you smile / kino a little)"

If this didn't help, it might work better if you explained what about negs and FTC you don't know how to do.

Anyway, good luck. Awesome first sarge.

Thanks for the advice always happy to take on board any advice and help you and the community are willing to give. I am reading, watching and taking in so much information on “the game” I guess I am getting a little muddled in the field. I think that is why I skip the uses of FTC and negs.

The whole night was pretty much the start of months of warm up sets. I am not under the dilutions that I will own the game any time soon. I am using these few weeks to get comfortable playing and seeing what areas work for me while trying to learn a more structure game. Any close I get the next few weeks I will put down as a bonus and try to analysis where I went right. I didn’t specify run a warm up set but I will keep that in mind when I get better at the game.

Thanks!! for the FTC with bonus neg I will use that next session and report on Tuesday or Thursday. I definite need a more structured routine. The problems with the way I use FTC and NEGS I guess is that I go to open and I am already nervous. Once/if I start getting IOI I get more nervous and loss focus on the game.

Any ideas on the order/process which would be best to learn the game would help. This long weekend I might go with the keep it simple approach. I’ll pick three openers/routines and replay them one after another as many times as I can. I’ll aim for 10 a night and see how I go.
