Sarging in Denver CO. I can't say I could have expected it to go much better, and I definitely have some marked progress. Play by play of the night:

Prep:
Dressed in a crazy cool outfit. $400 Jacket over a Cowboy Bebop shirt with a gold chain and matching sunglasses. Saw Superbad and then hit the bars.

Pat's
Set 1
The first was a bunch of volleyball players, one of which seemed very interested in talking to me. I didn't really mean to target her, but I ended up doing it. Jealous girlfriend opener, into my solo routine. We talked briefly about college, I neg'd her on her age, and then # closed. My roommate's girl (easily an HB10) played a small role, walking in half way through and DHVing me.

Analysis: I didn't isolate her. I didn't work any A3 material. I also didn't plant any seeds for my # close beyond saying that we were going to other bars later. I think the female pivot helped, but she needed more practice.

Set 2
The second set didn't go as well. I walked up but as I got about 2 lines into my opener, my target left to get the drinks for the group. I quickly switched targets but this one left too. I ended up with two non-HBs. Jealous Girlfriend opener again, but I lost interest as my two HBs left.

Analysis: I approached the whole group, and I didn't talk directly to my target. It also didn't help that I approached from the other side of a 4 set from where my target was. I should have either talked to my target right away or neg'd her quickly. I think a wing would have also helped with such a big group.

Public House

Next we hit the Public House. I opened three sets (that I can recall) and a solo.

Solo
The solo was standing by a beer stand, and I thought she was a bar tender, but it turned out she was just friends with the bar tender. We kicked up a chat with a little flirting but I had no where to go with our conversation. She seemed interested a little, and I played it C&F, but I didn't do anything

Analysis: I should have pulled out some canned material, DHV'd and then maybe tried to pull a # or isolate.

Set 1

This was easily my worst set of the night, and I really have no idea why. It was a 3 set getting ready to order drinks. I opened with jealous gf, but I didn't seem to grasp the attention of any girl, because when they finished giving brief opinions on it, they turned away. I ejected and let it go.

Analysis: I should have Neg'd the hottest one to get their attention. I believe a lack of 'interesting' material was what killed me here.

Set 2
Opened with my teddy bear opener. This one was a two set, who were a smaller part of a mixed 5 set. I planned on dealing with some AMOGs, but they detached as I arrived. The girls were about HB7 and HB8.5, the higher being my target. I opened, and they responded well, but as I went, my target kept smiling but showed a little negative body language. Namely, she moved backwards against a wall. I neg'd her, but maybe too hard. Obstacle seemed much more interested than target, so I ejected.

Analysis: I should have stayed longer. I should have tried to stay until they ejected me really. I should have talked to the obstacle until the target ejected, or switched over to the target completely.

Set 3

Definately the weirdest set of the night. Very very cute korean girl and her friend. I don't remember what I opened with. Neg'd my target, talked to her friend. About half way through, I had my friend walk up and introduce himself. Wing then asked if they knew why we were out at the bars, and then DHV'd me saying I had won a kickboxing fight and we were celebrating. This really seemed to work. The weird part was that when we got into a conversation about high school, it turned out the target was in a 5+ relationship with one of my high school buddies. Sucks.

Analysis: Maybe my best set of the night, but the bf situation killed it. The Wing DHV thing really helped though.

Sports Column
Sports column is huge, but honestly the pickins were kinda slim. I can only recall openeing one set, but I believe there may have been others.

Set 1
3 set, two HB7.5-8s and an HB7. I don't remember which opened I used, but they seemed way interested, and I kept a conversation going for a good 15 minutes. My target seemed interested in me, but she texted on her phone a few times which annoyed the shit out of me. I got some IOIs, and then they asked me to take a picture of them. I did, and I said I was going to some other bars later. I # closed looking for 1 number, but I got 2.

Analysis: I really think it would have helped to have a wing because it was a lot of work handling so many girls at once. I should have at least attemped to isolate my target

Summary and Conclusion
I had fun in the end. Certainly not the greatest time in the world, but I'm glad I did it. I also know that I can approach and open solo.

Approaching and opening is FAR from my problem. My problem is getting beyond that. I get a few IOIs but I never get enough to feel comfortable moving to A3. I should start trying the A3 move anyway, and just seeing what happens. Same thing with isolating.

Both times I had a wing or pivot step in, it actually really helped. I will def practice some material with the next wing / pivot that I use.

Lastly I need to make sure to grab my target's attention. I think this will mean talking to her directly in the opening and maybe negging her quickly.

Goals and Ideas for Next Time

* Get attention of target from the OUTSET!
* Make A3 transitions
* Use Wings and Pivots more frequently
* DHV more using stories (which I basically didn't tonight)
* Try isolating targets
* Plant better seeds for # closes

Hey man,
First of all - that's awesome that you went out and opened all those sets. It's always awesome talking to someone this motivated.

Here's one thing I saw:
A couple times you said that your targets or others in the group lost interest while you were still opening.
- Your opener needs to be captivating.
- Make sure your body language is right. You don't want to be facing them directly and you want to be rocking a bit looking as if you are about to leave.
- When you shoot into your next material - you want to make sure you're NOT paying much attention to your target. From her perspective, she should see you immediately winning over the approval of her friends but not paying attention to her. She will wonder why and begin to try to win your attention.
- You can lock your target into the set by giving her a prop. Put your hat on her head. Give her an envelope with some pictures... w/e.

Cheers,
Keep it up

Nice work. Makes me want to fly solo. One thing. You win over the group or the non-target first, then draw in the target. The process is actually a neg of the target, as she is being deliberately ignored by you to gain approval or her friends (she's not used to that). Then isolate. And keep lots of good material in mind, or, just be witty and funny.

http://puacrush.blogspot.com/

neogamer - OK, I struggle with group dynamics in non-PUA life too, so I need to work on all this. Do you think I should at least say one thing to the target before ignoring her so she doesn't just start another conversation? (in a big group)

Israel - thanks for your advice. I like the prop idea, its just so ballsy! Any tips on how to do it? I really do need to work on body language. I spent most of high school being a misfit, so I really doubt my body language conveys confidence. Do you have any good resources to read on this?

Lastly, I def need to work on my delivery. Right now, I get blank faces in every group when I begin.

Thanks again guys

There are two keys I've found with the prop thing:
a.) It has to be something easy to put on the girl. You can't do glasses or anything like that because that involves getting close to her face without having built any comfort. You can't do like a necklace cuz that's way too intimate for someone you don't know yet. Easy things are hats, scarves (just toss it on her), envelopes with pictures (for the picture routine)
b.) You can't make a big deal out of giving her the prop - it should be subtext. So, you're doing some DHV or talking to the entire group and while you're talking just pull your hat off and place it on her head and just keep talking.

As for body languages, I've been a gymnast for a long time and I did horseback riding and that's just stuff that naturally teaches you good body language.
What I've heard really helps is just look at people who you look like they're constantly getting laid. Look at people with alpha male qualities or otherwise good body language (watch any james bond movie). Notice what they do and then get in front of a mirror and try to imitate it. Sit, stand, walk, and be real critical of yourself.
Also, there's something called Alexander Technique that I haven't personally tried but I've heard is good so you might want to look that up. The basis of it is "widen and lengthen." Feel where your spine ends (top of your neck) and keep your entire spine straight. Then try to widen out your shoulders.
