Two words: Show up... early.

Face it, you cannot easily game a bartender if the place is packed. It becomes a mission for you and probably annoying for her because she's gotta deal with customers.

The night
True story: I was supposed to go out tonight to a double birthday party for these two girls. At the last second my roommate (who's friends with this group of girls, and is the only way I know them) tells me that it's a girls night only!! And yet I was invited by another girl from within the group... Strange.. So I don't go. I ponder if it's really a girls night or if she's sort of jealous that I'm now friends with ALL of her friends! So what do I do? I DHV the shit out of this story.

I'm new to Ottawa and I honestly have like 2 guy friends, and lots of girl friends, but didn't feel like finding some last minute arrangements. Time for a night on the town by myself.

Warmup
I was planning on dressing really nice for this party as we were supposed to go downtown. I LIKE to dress fancy, so I said fuck it; I put on a pair of $400 black pants, a wonderful grey dress shirt, and a sick black blazer (compliments, all night, by guys and girls). I was dressed damn well.

I have realized that warming up is unbelievable critical whether you are new or not. The first approach or conversation is always the hardest. The rest are cake. Wearing my fancy clothes, I decide to first hit up the school pub. I've never been there, and I figure on a Friday night it would be packed. Wrong.. There's like 6 people in there (and this is apparantly normal). So again, I took advantage. I hit on the bartender, who wasn't hot but was a really cool gal. I told her my story of what I was supposed to be doing... wow she was curious and gave me lots of IOIs, kept asking me questions, etc. I drink 2 drinks, and say peace, time to head downtown.


Downtown
I get downtown and have no idea where to go. I feel warmed up, crazy confident and ready to talk to anyone. I walk into a starbucks and start chatting up a cute barista as she closes. I ask her a good place that's half bar half club. She tells me one, I say thanks. She was very interested, I could tell how she spoke, but I wasn't too attracted.

The bar
It's 10:00. I finally find the place she mentioned after walking around for 20 mins. I walk in, it's $3 cover, 3 floors. Two floors of bar/pub, and the dance floor up top. I head straight to the top, not interested in trying to talk to people sitting down with groups. I get to the top floor. There is a 3 set of 2 guys 1 girl, and the CUTEST bartender I've ever seen. The music isn't too loud yet, and the set is sitting at the bar. I make my presence known by exclaiming "ARE WE THE ONLY PARTY PEOPLE HERE OR WHAT?!"

I get a great rouse from the set. We all start talking. They are from Toronto! (like me). We talk, I start flirting with bartender. I'm not super cocky with her, in fact I don't really know if I was cocky at all, but I was charming and funny. I get lots of laughs out of her. I ask her about her rings. And I DHV her with my story of tonight.

The 3 set leaves. It's just me and her for a brief moment until up comes another bartender. She's alright, not my type, but still a good looking girl. She sits right beside me and starts reading one of those girl magazines. I neg her right away: "Do you always bring a magazine to a bar?" I of course knew she worked here, but played it out as I didn't. I build some rapport with her, not really interested in attracting her so I don't even try. I just want some social proof for the night. But.. of course... I also DHV her with the same story.

The story was gold. It got lots of conversation out of all 3 bartenders, and it made them keep asking me questions all night. The most important thing is, it was real! No need to make up stories, fellas. I keep gaming the cute bartender.. she is so adorable. I keep making her laugh while building rapport.

11:30 rolls along. I decide I'm not really up for loud music anymore and decide to call it a night. Of course, before I leave, I get both bartenders to write their names down on the bill so I can facebook them. It was pretty loud now, getting crowded. I hand the bill to the 2nd bartender and ask for her name. She writes it and gives it back, but I push it back in her hand and ask her to get the cute bartender to right hers too.

She misunderstands at first. "OH!!! I thought you wanted MY name."
Me: "No, no, I want BOTH your names."

I thought that was kind of cute, she look kinda sad when she thought I didn't want hers.

Anyways, grabbed both their names, they are infact real names haha, and I'll add them later. As well, through the rest of the night I talked to at least 3 more sets of girls while taking the bus home: a cute-as-fuck 2 set while getting on the bus (I overheard her speaking about her crazy boyfriend, negged and went from there), another CUTER 2 set while ON the bus (girl accidentally hit me, went from there), and finally a 3 set of pretty ugly chicks at another bus stop, but still took advantage to practice.

Oh yeah, and I got a free drink out of this too!

Show up way too early to EASILY game bartenders. You're not going to get anywhere when it's busy.
You can use the same fucking DHV story on every girl... but just make it real, and make it your own. You will be able to tell it better and be more geniune.
Always WARM UP! Sometimes the first few words out of my mouth to the first girl I speak to are an absolute jumble of nothing. But after that first sentence, it's all gravy.
Keep your energy going: if you open a set, you've started the ball rolling. If you don't continue talking, you'll lose your energy.
