| I am only writing field reports now when there is a reason or a moral to the story. Otherwise there seems to be no point. You know what I did... I opened, stacked, hooked, built attraction, qualified and moved into comfort. Played patticake patticake, etc.
This field report is about a failed set. But it has two morals to its story. One is about being creative and the other is about dynamic sets.
I was in Soho with Tony T and his girl. Good bar with lots of bustle, good space to manoeuvre and most importantly it was one of the rare bars in London where the music doesn't bang out at mega levels and make your ears bleed and social conversation impossible. My game is very chilled and conversational. I am not a club guy.
There were two girls only above an 8. One was Tony's girl, the other, my target. There were other girls, but I wanted this one. So I committed my time to getting it.
She was, of course, surrounded by friends. About 6 of them. Mostly male.
One by one I picked off all her friends as they left the set. To go to the bar. To smoke. To make a call.
My contact with them was fun, smiley and very brief. Hey, great shirt. Nice watch. Whatever.
After a while I had spoken to all her friends one on one. I had made a positive impression and managed to find something out about them I could use as an opener. They told me they were dieticians.
My opener was - My friend is in training for swimming in cold water. He needs to build fat but he's training so hard he is burning it as fast as he is gaining it. What can he do?
When I approached the group, I clapped my hands, smiled and shouted 'hey guys'.
Everyone turned. And they all recognised me. They all smiled. I was in. No pressure. The opener was the highlight of their night.
No one had any idea I had previous with everyone else. And Target had never seen me before in her life. But because they all had a connection with me I got treated like a friend. Her whole set responded to me. Who is this guy?
She hated it. And the shit came. She started to ridicule my question so I just ignored it like I was so caught up having fun I couldn't hear my niece whining.
Ok. Hook point. Neg, of sorts. Time to DHV.
One DHV story and I got my second IOI. Where are you from.
All I needed to do now was notice her for something and it's game over. This is when I had a huge stroke of luck.
She turned out to be German. I broke out into fluent German. Her set actually applauded when they heard it.
It was so perfect it was cheesy. Like an Adam Sandler film. But target was now all about me. I was working hard to not let her win me over too quickly.
Anyway, the point is her husband turned up. Ha bloody ha. I have since learnt that sets are dynamic. Target sets can become pawn sets and pawn sets can become target sets in the blink of an eye.
