Taste of Chicago- Day Game
Ace Gio

Had been opening all day so was already warmed up with Shane and talking to people. Had only been in one set so far with Gio which went well. We were having small talk about our ethnicity and I noticed a perfect two set directly behind me so I turned and asked them over my shoulder “what ethnicity do you guys think we are?” They took a second to give their answer and I made sure that my own body language and stance were good by Not pointing my body directly towards them.
They guessed and we chatted a little bit on the opener before I knew that we needed to transition, so we did. We talked about where they were from (ST. Louis and Pitts. Respectively) and about how both sox and cards fans hate the cubs. (good job Gio). I recognized the building that they lived in and talked about how they had an awesome common room on the top floor. I had intended this to be somewhat of a seeding technique but it was weak obviously because it was in their building.
Conversation went on but was pretty standard stuff. Some mistakes that we made here was that we were just doing small talk which is ok but evidently it prob hurt us.
We used no push/pull no qualification and did very little DHVing. Convo pretty much stuck to who are you, where are you from, what do you do. This was ok because between the four of us there were many things in common and plenty to talk about but we wernt gaining ground in the attraction or seeding dept.
At one point Gio engaged the brunette pretty exclusively about sports (Notre Dame basketball I think) and I noticed myself getting kind of bored. I looked and noticed the blonde was thinking the same thing and she had her arms crossed so I Moved around the brunette and talked to her getting her to turn away fro the center of the circle and face me. At this point it would have been ideal for Gio to do the same so we would both be semi isolated but once his convo with the other girl had started to die we were back in the full set.
At this point I knew that we had to number close or do something when two of their guys friends walked up. I immediately introduced myself to them and focused all of my attention on them. We joked and talked about the city food and I mentioned division st. They said they were going to Mc Faddens that night and said that we should come. I seeded with this and brought up Shenanigans. They guys then asked how we knew the girls and if we went to school with them. I said no we don’t go to school together and tried to change the subject. The asked the same about Gio who again was semi isolated as I was occupying the guys and this time one of the girls said “they just came up and started talking to us”. Ouch.
Now I decided to number close and eject. I looked tat Gio and said we should really catch up to shane. I did my normal number close and had clare put her num in my phone. This is where I forgot to immediately call her where she would have mine. Fuck up. We said goodbye and ejected.
