Here's the rundown

Hottie walks in and takes her place behind me at the end of the line in cashiers office at the university (and doesn't immediately take out her cell phone lol.)

Me: I hope you don't have any thing to do for the rest of the day, cause this line is taking forever.
HB: Oh, really. Have you been waiting long?
Me: Yeah. blah blah So are you a new student here?
HB: Well, I coming back for another degree.
Me: Grad School?
HB: No. My second undergrad.
Me: Oh (slightly dropping tone as if a little unimpressed)
HB: Yeah I got my first undergrad in Accounting at blah blah and now blah blah. How about you?
Me: I got my undergrad at blah blah, then I lived overseas for a couple of years and now I'm going to grad school in the fall.
HB: What for?
Me: Blah blah (difficult/techinical subject, more DHV)
HB: Wow. What do you want to do with it? What was your undergrad in? Blah Blah.
Me: Blah blah (a bit more DHV)
A bit a career goals related fluff talk occurs...
HB: Oh well I now someone who is working for a company that does blah blah in your field.
Me: No way! I just applied to work at a company here that does blah blah. I wonder if it is the same one.
HB: I haven't talked to him in a while but maybe I could put you in touch.
Me: That would be great. Give me you email.

At this point person in front of me has just left and I'm next up, so i tell her to hold on for a second. I finish at the counter then wait nearby and look over some stuff I had been given. A few moments pass and she isn't finished so I think of another question to ask the clerk (partly because I didn't want to appear needy by standing there waiting on her to finish) so I approach the other clerk and ask another question while she finishes and goes to wait for me.

HB: (as shes writing her email) Probably the best thing would be for you to email me so i'll have your email and then can contact him to...
Me: (cutting her off) write down your phone number too.
HB: Ok here you go, I'm "HB".
Me: I'm Samuryan, to meet you.

After which we both happen to need to go to another nearby counter to ask more school related questions from the staff. Fluff talk ensues. I finish up before her at the counter and say "HB, gotta run, nice to meet you, enjoy your day."

I don't like her putting me in touch with friend for work being the premise of a number close when I am really closing because I am interested PU for a couple of reasons. One of which being I don't even know if she's single/interested, since there is an explicit, alternative reason for giving me her info and i don't like wasting my time. Though it would seem obvious to me that I am interested in more when I'm telling her to give me her phone number as well.

Awesome Close Man I also like the fact that you asked the cashier a question so you didnt wait for her and appear needy, ill consider that if it ever happens to me :)
