Recently, I was in New York for a wedding. The night we arrive in New York my cousin and I plan on hitting the bar. For this FR we will call my cousin Blue.
Blue’s brother is the groom and he is def. I tell you that in order to tell you a little back story. On arriving Blue and I talk to the groom to find out where the nightlife is. The groom is not sure but IM’s another def friend of his to find out where the best places are to go. We get some names, put them into the gps and head to the first bar. We walk in and I do my customary first set to the left, a mixed 3 set two guys and a HB6. I will give you the brake down of what I do when I open a set and why as we go along.

Steller: Woohoo! You guys seem like fun I had to come over and say hello! (Social Direct Opener)
HB6: Hello
Steller: (Tease the Loudest Person) Well, you are the friendliest girl I’ve met…. In the last 30 seconds. (Credit Mehow)
Steller: I have to go in a minute my friend is here. (I say this as I body rock out of the set. I don’t do a lot of body rocking however I like to body rock when I start out with my hand shake routine and on my false time constraint. It makes the FTC more believable)
Steller:(I put my hand out to shake) It’s nice to meet you. I am Steller. (Note I never ask for names as do this I only tell them mine. I don’t want to show too much interest)
HB6: Hi I’m hb6 (as she shakes my hand)
(I run the routine) If you would like to know the routine ask me about it and I can show it to you sometime. I talk with the set for a bit while Blue gets some drinks for us. Then I seed the set for reopen later and catch up with Blue in the back of the bar.

Blue is a sign language interpreter and he happens to run into a Def dude in the back of the bar. In my experience meeting def people in bars is extremely rare. (We will call this guy Def dude) Blue is talking to Def dude and finds out he knows the groom. This is where things get interesting. Def dude offers to show us around town and we agree. Def dude explains there is a bar down the street with more people and we should head down there. As we walk up to the bar this HB9 standing outside smoking yells and runs up to Def dude and throws her arms around him. I am a little surprised because this girl is banging hot. Now I have to tell you, Def dude is an average looking guy at best, less then 6’ tall, def and is easily 20 pounds over weight but this guy has mad skills. We walk in and he knows every hot girl in the place. As we stand at the bar hot girl after hot girl makes there way over to talk with him. I can’t even say he talked because it was vary hard to understand him it really was more smiles, hugs and laughs as he teases them relentlessly. None of these girls spoke one lick of sign language but they would strain to make out what he was trying to saying and often they would ask him to repeat what he said. Occasionally, one girl would pull out her cell phone and text him something. At this point in the night I was no longer interested in opening any sets and more interested in watching this guy run some crazy def game the remainder of the evening.
Watching this Def guy run game had a profound impact on me. I have to say after seeing this I realized it really isn’t what you say but how you say it. I truly think if you have a great energy people can just tell you’re a cool person.
The next night Blue and I go out and I end up hooking up. Nothing unusual, it was a pretty standard pickup. However, when I got back to Minnesota the girl sent me her panties with a naughty note. Right now she is planning a trip to visit. I love the game!
