(Note: the first part of the field report just basically explains how I got to the last part so you guys aren't left wondering "WTF?" However, only the last half or third is about the girl I met today.)

So I just recently graduated and got a job. I'm rather unfamiliar with the city and don't really have any friends here yet. Recently I found out about a program that the city was hosting to introduce people to the city and try to make a difference in the community (the usual crap). So I decided to participate, thinking that I would be able to meet some good quality girls at this event.

During this event I started chats with both girls and guys to try to gain social proof (I must admit that I tried to be friendly, and had no game whatsoever). I guess one thing that basically saved my ass over and over in conversations was that I got a pretty good job that everyone was asking me about (engineer leadership position at a well-known company), the job basically bragged for itself without me having to.

During the event we went to some art-exhibition and I started talking with one of the artists (he was around my age), he later invited me to a party that's going on tonight, and said that there would be another one tomorrow night as well (note: the party he invited me to is not the same "party" that I talk about later in the post).

We then went back on the bus to finish off the event, and I started talking to some other guy (p.s. I'm not gay, I talked to girls too, but it's easier to hold a decent convo with a guy). The bus stopped at a place where there was supposedly a "party" to finish the event. However, none of the food was free like I originally assumed. After about 10 seconds of my confused wandering the guy from the bus comes up to me and tells me he knows this place really well and will introduce me to it.

As we walk around, he tells me that he also decided to go to this program thinking he could meet some girls. He also told me that he goes to the bars in the area and I should come along, we exchanged numbers. I'm thinking "great, a possible wingman". All of a sudden, some other guy comes out of a corner who apparently was also doing the same event as us. He seems like a complete AFC, in fact he looks very much like the guy from Office Space who burned down the place. We decided to stop by a small bar in the area (the time was around 5 pm), and the AFC guy volunteered to buy us the first round, we agreed. Once again, I started getting tons of questions about my job from the AFC.

About 15 minutes later we walked out of the bar (without anyone buying the 2nd or 3rd round of drinks ) to notice that the "party" was actually getting crowded, nice. We listened to the performers and I noticed the first guy I met go to some girl and start talking to her. The AFC offered to buy another round for me and himself, I agreed. After we came out, the first guy offered to introduce me to the girl he was talking to. We talked a little, but once again I couldn't find much to talk to her about. As me and the first guy I met were listening to the music the AFC guy kept talking to me, perhaps trying to earn my acceptance. I just kept nodding and agreeing with him since I didn't even hear half of what he was saying because of the band.

He then told me that he would go get some chicken wings, I nodded again (not really caring). When the AFC guy came back, he brought 2 huge chicken wings and offered me one, but I wasn't hungry. At this point I started wondering if he was gay or just thought really highly of me for some reason). Eventually, the first guy told me that he has to go and would call me later today when he'd go to the bars. The AFC finished his chicken and asked me if I wanted to go talk to some people (p.s. I know it's very AFCish of me as well to just chill on a bench next to a guy eating chicken when there are so many groups around to practice approaches on).

So we walk up to a group of about 3 guys and 2 girls. The AFC introduces himself to one of the guys and I introduce myself to the group as well. I quickly notice that the girl that happened to be standing next to me was pretty hot (about 8.5 to a 9). However, after saying hi, I completely ignore her at first and start talking to the guy. He seemed pretty friendly and the AFC was standing right next to me listening to me talk. All this time, the girl was standing on the other side of me and listening to me talk to the guy as well. After a couple of minutes I switched focus to the girl, and the AFC started chatting the guy up that I was talking to originally (surprisingly he made a pretty good wingman). The rest of the group seemed to have wandered off, as I was left 1-on-1 with my target.

The conversation went alright, I didn't really use much gaming technique but made a few jokes here and there that she seemed to like. I started asking her about her job and other things and then she offered to give me her business card (cool, don't even have to ask for a phone number). She then started asking me about my job and what I do (which I wasn't allowed to tell her due to the company policy) and asked me how high of a rank I had on my security clearance (I guess this is another one of those things that brags for itself). I asked her about her age, but she said she didn't want to tell me, I teased her for it, and she laughed but switched to topic. When she realized during our convo that I jsut recently graduated from college she seemed surprised too (I guess she thoguht I was older; btw I'm 21 and she seemed around my age, but she said she was doing her master's degree part-time, I would say that she looks at most 24). I asked her about her hobbies but she didn't seem to have a lot aside from hiking. I told her about mine, and she seemed very excited to hear about them.

After a while I started realizing that I'm talking to her way too long and should tell her that I had to go, however the AFC in me wouldn't let me. I kept talking and talking (completely breaking the 70/30 rule about making the girl do most of the talking), until eventually she asked me if I wanted to walk around to meet other people. I nodded, and she said she would see me around and walked to another group. At this point I started wondering if I blew my chances with her, but immediately I decided to play it cool and walked off to another place. Then after about 20 minutes I came back and told the AFC I had to go, but the girl was no where near, so I couldn't say bye to her.

IOI's I noticed from her:
-She offered the contact info without me asking for it
-Asked about my job and things like how high my security clearance was
-She was hiding her age from me/asking mine
-She initiated kino, putting her palm on my shouler a couple of times (damn, I completely forgot to do any kino myself)

Errors on my part:
-I talked too long and too much, making myself seem too available, I should have told her that I had to go when my gut feeling first told me to do it
-I ended up talking too much about my job benefits at the end (which I guess falls into bragging category)
-I didn't follow the "kiss after 3 IOI" rule

My goals from here:
-Despite my screwups and her showing signs of being tired of me at the end, I still believe that I could use the business card she gave me to arrange something. However, in order for it to work, I think I need to pull off something very outrageous on the phone, leaving her dying to know more about me.

What are your opinions/advices/criticisms?

p.s. Her email is also on the business card, and according to facebook (date she finished college) it seems she's around 28 (which doesn't bother me, but I guess it just makes things even harder for me)
