Location: BuckWild Karaoke Bar 2nd Ave
Date: 9/25/08, Thursday
Just yesterday my old wing that I use to hang out with back in January or February returned to Nashville from upstate New York. B. Sweet and myself decided to head to our old stomping ground this evening and just have a good time. B. Sweet claims that he has forgotten much of the game and hasn't been able to really practice any of it because of the area he lived in.
As I'm talking to Nuked on the phone around 9:15pm I was about a block away from BuckWild and I could hear B. Sweet singing karaoke. They have speakers that go outside so the people walking by can hear. I hang up the phone with Nuked and I head inside. B. Sweet point to me as I walk in. I walk up to the bartender which I know and say, "hello" and get a RedBull. He finishes singing and introduces me to his friend. This girl is about a HB5 and is just there hanging out. They have been there a little while and have been singing a few songs. I am introduced to the girl as a pickup artist and he refers to me as J. Smooth. She gives me a skeptical look. About that time I spot a few people in the venue that I know. I grab B. Sweet and we go over to talk to them for a little while.
There is a series of us talking, singing, and taking photos of each other. I sign us up for a couple of songs to actually sing together and I get a text message from Shine that he's downtown.
The karaoke attendent HB9, Ryan, comes over and tells me they don't have a specific song handing me back my piece of paper. I make the pouty lips, and act like I'm sobbing. I act like I'm blotting my eyes with the paper as if to soak up the tears. She laughs hard and grabs my arm as she leans back laughing. Her hand finds my hand and I hold her from falling back. I say to her, "How the heck do you not have this song?" She tells me how they don't have any songs from the past year. I act like it's the end of the world which gets her laughing again. I tell her okay, I'll find another song. I put in another song for me and B. Swwet to sing.
I go to text Shine and tell him where I am at. As I press send I look at the front door and see him. I head outside to talk to him. We chit chat for about 2 minutes and he spots a set walking down the street coming up behind me. He says, "Here we go." He opens this two set. There is a blonde HB9 who's pretty tall, and a shorter HB8 Brunette that is pretty cute. Both are wearing those glow necklaces on their head. I think he opened with asking them a question about the bars in the area. He starts specifically talking to the blonde and I start talking to the brunette. I am asking them what she's doing in town and they are here from Utah for the next few days having a good time. With my brunette is wearing a green shirt, jeans, and a green glow necklace on her head. I neg her and say, "I think you missed St. Patty's day by a few months." She lightly hits me on the chest and something clicks in my mind. I realize I'm standing in the open. I lean again the wall which is right outside of the BuckWild bar. I glance over my shoulder and can see B. Sweet inside watching me.
I turn my attention back to her and she's listening to Shine as he finishes his thread. She asks me about where I'm from and I make her guess. Then followed by my age and I make her guess. She goes to ask me if I'm single. I say to her, "Who the heck are you asking me all these questions?" I proceed to ask her some things as well. She standing a lot closer to me than she started with. I have been touching her shoulder and hands here and there when I could. I then tell her to go like this. I take her hand and try and start a thumb war. During the 1,2,3,4 she doesn't move her thumb which follows a neg from me saying, "I can't believe you don't know thumb war." I throw her hand down. She then grabs my hand and we start a proper thumb war. This is going on a while because she's cheating. A motorcyle cop is sitting there watching us and looks over kind of concerned. I say to him, "Thumb War!" He smiles and looks away. About that time she finally wins because she cheated.
Because she's still holding my hand I spin her around in a twirl just for giggles.
I'm giving her stuff about cheating and general bantering. She goes to hug me. I say to her, "Why is it that I'm drawn to you...you have to help me rationalize this." She says, "I'm cute, from the west, and guys like me." I say to her, "No that's not it what else do you got?" She laughs. Since she's standing close I have great eye contact and while she's laughing I tell her to kiss me and she does. This only happens for a few seconds. I glance at Shine during the kiss and he's still talking to his blonde but things look pretty descent.
I decide to get my brunette's #. I say to her, "You're in town all weekend and we're celebrating. How can we hang out later?" I hand her my phone and it works like normal. The blonde starts to pull my brunette away a bit and says they are going to a nearby bar. Shine and I don't want to follow like lost puppies so we tell them we'll text them tomorrow to hang out. They walk down the street and we congratulate ourselves on a good set. We haven't winged in months but fell in our old routines well. Shine tells me how he's going to Cabana to meet this girl one of his friends wants him to meet that supposively use to be a Playboy model. I tell him good luck and I head back inside of BuckWild.
B. Sweet already saw the whole interaction out of the window and comments on a job well done. The girl haning out with us says I'm pretty impressed with what happened. It seems like the girls had a good time and you got to kiss her I saw. I go back to drinking my 2nd Redbull and B. Sweet wants to smoke so we go smoke out front of BuckWild and I tell him about the set. While we're smoking the karaoke attendent comes to find us and asks if we are reading to go next. We head back inside and they hand us the microphones. We then proceed to rock the microphone with some Bloodhound Gang - The Bad Touch (Discovery Channel Song). We have people dancing in front of us making doggy style like jestures and people are really into it. His friend is snapping pictures of all this right on que. About that time a blonde jumps on stage and acts like she's spanking my ass. We finish the song and B. Sweet heads to the bathroom. I sit down and I am approach by a guy who tells me I did a good job.
B. Sweet comes out of the bathroom and I head back there but a guy beats me in. While standing there the hot blonde HB9 with curly blonde hear, that jumped on stage comes over to congratulate me on doing so well with the song. I tell her that's bullshit that we were just messing around but thanks. She says, "No really you were really good." I say, "Whatever, you're just attracted to me." She doesn't say a word but she holds my eye contact and smiles. I say to her, "Who are you here with this evening?" She says that she's alone but has become a regular. I take her over to introduce her to B. Sweet and his friend. I get her to take a seat while I go back to the bathroom. I give myself a quick pep talk and jump up and down a few times to get my heart rate back up.
I go out and sit down with the girl and we just start casually talking about the singers in the bar and some other general comfort stuff. I already know she's attracted but I keep casual light kino going and inserting a DHV where I can. I don't really neg her but do ignore her a few times when I can. She's having a pretty good time hanging out with us and I'm impressed with myself so far. I manage to start hand holding a little bit and when I get the look I lean in for the kiss without any words and get it. We keep talking about how's she from around Nashville and me being from Kentucky and I don't have much of an accent supposively. It's getting around midnight and I'm operating on very little sleep from being out 2 nights in a row. B. Sweet and company wants to leave and I agree.
She acts like it's a big deal that I'm leaving just giving me shit. I say to her, "How can we talk later?" She says, "You can have my number." I hand her my phone. I get a kiss on the cheek from her and we make a few rounds to say our goodbyes to our friends in the bar. We then walk up 2nd Ave to our vehicles.
REVIEW
Being very honest with myself. I could have kino escalated better, and I probably should have left B. Sweet and bounced the girls to another venue from where we were at in the street. I didn't multi-thread as good as I should have but held her attention pretty well. When I did kino esclate I should have kept going until she said stop but I didn't. I also caught myself leaning in a few times before I locked in.
I escalated close to the perfect moment. There was a few seconds she was really close to me talking and I thought about the kiss instead of acting. When she did it the 2nd time that's when I got the kiss.
I probably should have hung with the HB9 before leaving but I needed some serious sleep since I had to work the next day. I'm not totally pleased with the way that ended up but I need my job.
It's close to going very well but there are times I need to stop thinking about the next step and just reacting. I see the moves that need to be made but I need to condition myself to just move and not think about the move in some aspects, mostly related to kino escalation.
